Iron Man’s Epic New Weapon Now Has a Name Straight Out of Power Rangers

Ever since Iron Man debuted his awesome new sword in his latest ongoing series, fans have been wondering what to call this game-changing addition to the hero's arsenal. Now, Iron Man has finally decided on a name for his super-powered blade, and it feels like it belongs in the Power Rangers franchise rather than Marvel Comics - in the best way possible, of course.
Iron Man #5 by Spencer Ackerman, Javier Pina, Alex Sinclair, and Joe Caramagna pits Tony Stark against Lucia von Bardas, a previous ruler of Latveria who's relocated her operations to Ironheart's Chicago hometown. With a Stark Sentinel fighting beside her, she proves to be a formidable opponent for Iron Man and Ironheart, but they manage to take her down with help from Tony's sword.
In the aftermath of the showdown, Iron Man uses his sword to share repulsor energy with civilians, and Ironheart refers to the weapon as the "Repulsword". Thus, Iron Man's coolest weapon to date finally has a name.

Tony Stark first showed off his epic new Repulsword in Iron Man #2, around the same time that he swapped his usual armor for a more steampunk-inspired look due to technological difficulties with his more advanced gear. He built the sword using materials from a Roxxon pipeline he'd destroyed in battle, which makes its very existence a threat to the villainous Roxxon Corporation. Although he's ended the company's attempted takeover of Stark Unlimited, he still wields the sword, and its abilities are so impressive that it deserves to stick around permanently. The Repulsword may look medieval and old-fashioned, but it's no ordinary sword.

Iron Man has nothing left to lose and everything to gain. With his company trying to leave him behind again, Stark is left to his own devices.
As evidenced by the name of the blade, the Repulsword is capable of being charged with Iron Man's Repulsor Rays. Though he's traditionally fired these as their own projectile attacks, he has now found a convenient way to channel the energy into a concentrated weapon and strike enemies down with it. Against Lucia, he pushes the sword to its limit by fueling it with a surplus of repulsor power, which overloads his enemy's systems in a surge of light. Not only can the Repulsword be swung like a standard weapon, but it can also build up energy and explode with a blast that sends foes flying.

Iron Man is being pushed to his limits by various armored opponents in his current series, but his Repulsword gives him the competitive edge he needs to combat any forces that attempt to knock him down. Iron Man's bold new era has gotten off to a thrilling start now that he's upgraded himself with his Repulsword, and the weapon's name does a great job at conveying just how strong it has the potential to be.
