Is The Latest Pokemon TCG Pocket Mass Outbreak Event Worth Playing?
The latest Mass Outbreak Event has dropped into Pokémon TCG Pocket with a Psychic-type theme, but is it worth players taking part in it? Players are set for a big few weeks in Pokémon TCG Pocket with the announcement of trading being added into the game, along with the new Space-Time Smackdown set releasing before the end of the month. However, the regular events that take place don't always seem to have a major purpose, including the Mass Outbreak Events. The event is now live and runs from January 23 until January 28, 2025,the day before trading and the new expansion come out.
This series of events sees set cards become more obtainable through exclusive wonder picks, this time based on Psychic Pokémon. Some of these can be picked up in Bonus Picks, which are free, while others are included in Rare Picks, which require the normal Wonder Stamina to open. A number of the events in Pokémon TCG Pocket, such as the unpopular SP Emblem Event, have little real purpose and don't help players obtain new cards. However, for some players, the latest Mass Outbreak Event could be of use.
What Pokémon Are Included In Psychic Mass Outbreak Event
Rare ex Cards Available For Players To Add
There are two different card lists available for the Psychic Mass Outbreak Event, those that can always be picked for free and those that will cost Wonder Stamina. The Bonus Picks will cost nothing no matter how many are opened, but are limited to common Pokémon, all which have a rarity of either one or two diamonds. These are Ralts, Kirlia, Sigilyph, Elgygem, Beheeyem, Flabebe, Floette, Florges, Swirlix, and Slurpuff. While some of these, such as Ralts and Kirlia, are vital for powerful Psychic decks, most players will already have obtained these cards on a number of occasions.
In addition to the Pokémon available from the Bonus Picks, Pack Hourglasses, Wonder Hourglasses and Shop Tickets can be earned. In total, there are 10 different combinations of Bonus Picks that can appear. Some of these will contain Pokémon exclusively, while others will be a combination of Pokémon and items.
New bonus picks are constantly being dropped every hour, so it is worth checking the Wonder Picks section of Pokémon TCG Pocket on a regular basis.
While they won't appear as frequently, there are also Rare Picks, which can be used to get better Pokémon, but these will cost either two or three Wonder Stamina depending on the cards that are included. The Pokémon available areMewtwo ex, Mew ex, Kirlia, Gardevoir, Sigilyph, Beheeyem and Florges.
Bonus Pick Pokémon | Rare Pick Pokémon |
|---|---|
Ralts | Mewtwo ex |
Kirlia | Mew ex |
Sigilyph | Kirlia |
Beheeyem | Gardevoir |
Flabebe | Sigilyph |
Floette | Beheeyem |
Florges | Florges |
Swirlix | |
Slurpuff |
There are only two different versions of these packs, but both offer the chance to get an ex card. Gardevoir is also one of the most important cards for a number of high-powered decks, but like earlier evolution stages, is common enough that most players will already have packed at least one.
Is It Worth Playing Psychic Mass Outbreak Event With The Inclusion Of Mew ex?
Two Of The Most Powerful Cards On Offer
Mewtwo ex has been around since Pokémon TCG Pocket launched, but Mew ex was added as part of the Mythical Island expansion. The addition of these two cards, in particular Mew ex, makes this event worth logging in for, compared to previous Mass Outbreak events that have included fewer rare cards. If you find a Bonus Pick with one of them, you have a one in five chance of getting it, which is pretty good odds. Mew ex has a strong deck which can be used in battles against opponents in versus mode. However, Mewtwo ex is one of the top decks used by competitive players, making it a must-have card.
If you haven't yet obtained Mew ex or Mewtwo ex, the event is a must-play, as it greatly increases your chances of adding both of them compared to via opening normal packs.
In addition to the chance of obtaining the two rare ex cards, there are further event-exclusive missions, which are worth finishing. There are six missions to complete, all offering additional Wonder Stamina and Shop Tickets. You may want to stock up on these items along with normal Pack Hourglasses ahead of the new expansion, as it is a great way to get yourself ready ahead of the huge update coming shortly. The Psychic-type Mass Outbreak event is by far the most lucrative of the three so far in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and it is worthwhile playing just to add the rare Mew ex card if you don't already have it in your collection.
