"It Finally Happened": Stardew Valley Player Showcases An Adorable Moment '11 Years' In The Making

After quite some time, one Stardew Valley player saw a rare sight — their ducks swimming in a pond. Ducks in Stardew Valley are a popular animal on the farm for players to pet and cultivate, but they rarely swim, making this a big moment for the players waiting for their ducks to act like ducks.

Redditor RikkertPaul posted a picture of their rare find on the Stardew Valley subreddit, much to the acclaim of the rest of the community. Ducks have been able to swim in the farm's ponds since Stardew Valley Update 1.5, but they strangely don't wade in the water often. However, the ducks don't need to swim to thrive on the farm, but fans certainly love to see the ducks lounge in the pond.

After 11 In-Game Years, This Stardew Valley Fan Sees Ducks Swim

What's Common In Real Life Isn't So Common In Stardew Valley

As RikkertPaul explained, this was their main Stardew Valley save and they finally got to see their ducks swim after 11 in-game years. Some other Stardew Valley fans chimed in on the thread, wondering how they could get their ducks to swim too. One piece of advice came from Redditor Dronxha who said the ducks will swim if the player pets them every day. However, RikkertPaul explained they were doing that and not getting any results. Other Stardew Valley fans may have cracked the code by placing their duck coops next to the pond with just a single tile between the ducks and a body of water.

Along with the duck miracle, Stardew Valley fans in the thread shared that they were impressed with RikkertPaul committing 11 years to one farm. Unlike some players, they explained they like to play expansive games, like Stardew Valley, on a single save. With so much new content in Update 1.6, RikkertPaul has plenty of surprises to find alongside their ducks finally taking a swim. Update 1.6 added many hidden details to Stardew Valley that were asked for by the community.

Stardew Valley: The Perfect Balance of Wholesome And Terrifying

Not Every Surprise In Stardew Valley Is Heartwarming

As seen by the sheer joy of seeing ducks swimming in a pond, Stardew Valley's wholesomeness is part of the charm. The cozy farm life sim allows players to carefully build a charming life and engage with the quirky townsfolk who inhabit Stardew Valley. Behind all that wholesomeness, however, is a hidden sinister side to the game that can result in jumpscares and unsavory mysteries. For instance, players who accidentally bring a cursed mannequin home will be haunted by it as the mannequin inexplicably steals their clothes.

For such a cozy game, not every NPC is so wholesome. Take Mayor Lewis and Stardew Valley resident Marine, for example. The two are in a not-so-secret relationship, but players might find it hard to prove. Not until recently did someone discover a note that led them to catch the Stardew Valley residents in the act. Together, these secrets and moments of terror make Stardew Valley a well-rounded experience. On any given day in Stardew Valley, fans can enjoy the cute sight of swimming ducks and maybe get haunted when they return home.
