Jason Sudeikis' 10 Best Movies And TV Shows

Known for being one of the funniest guys onscreen, Jason Sudeikis has built a fantastic career, appearing in a variety of great movies and TV shows throughout. Long before his incredible role in Apple TV+'s incredible series Ted Lasso, Sudeikis made a name for himself through a variety of other comedic roles in television, including The Cleveland Show, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Last Man on Earth. Film roles in comedies like We're the Millers and Horrible Bosses raised his stock as a comedic movie actor, too.

Sudeikis spent nine seasons as a member of Saturday Night Live, proving his versatility as a comedic actor, where he was known for his frequent sketches playing Mitt Romney and Joe Biden. Charming and hilarious in virtually everything he does, Sudeikis is one of the best comedic actors working today. With a potential fourth season of Ted Lasso coming, the sky is the limit for this beloved actor.

We're the Millers is an incredibly silly movie about a small-time pot dealer who hires his neighbors to be his pretend family as he attempts to smuggle drugs from Mexico into the US. It's not the greatest movie ever, but We're the Millers succeeds largely on the charm of its cast, led by Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston. Frequently absurd, but never dull, We're the Millers is simply a fun movie to watch.

Will Poulter's line, "You guys are getting paid?" has become a pretty popular meme.

Sudeikis brings an infectious energy to We're the Millers, as he plays David Clark, posing as the father of the Miller family. His comedic banter with Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter is the highlight of the movie, and his natural charm as an actor makes up for a lot of shortcomings his character possesses. It feels impossible to root against the guy, and that is largely due to how great Sudeikis is in the movie.

Drinking Buddies is a solid dramedy by mumblecore director Joe Swanberg, and follows two co-workers at a craft brewery spot in Chicago. This movie is smartly written, often funny, and lowkey, a staple of Swanberg's directorial style. It's a poignant look at relationships between people and features some great, natural performances by a stellar cast that includes Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick, and Olivia Wilde, who add a layer of authenticity to their characters.

Jason Sudeikis doesn't have a massive role in Drinking Buddies, as he plays Gene Dentler, the brewery owner. The role doesn't require a ton from Sudeikis, but he still gives a lot of life to the character, often improving the lines he has in it, a characteristic of how Joe Swanberg crafts his films. It just goes to show how talented Sudeikis is, making Gene Dentler a solid side character in a fantastic movie.

Following three friends who collectively decide to murder their bosses, whom they hate, Horrible Bosses is over-the-top but always hilarious throughout. The comedy embraces the meaner, edgier humor that is littered throughout it, making it a standout among most studio comedies at the time. Horrible Bosses takes full advantage of its rather silly premise, and largely succeeds due to its smart writing and committed performances by all the actors involved.

Horrible Bosses was the first big breakthrough film role for Jason Sudeikis, and he nailed the opportunity.

Sudeikis plays Kurt Burkman, an account manager at a chemical company who wants to murder his boss (played by Colin Farrell). Horrible Bosses was the first big breakthrough film role for Sudeikis, and he nailed the opportunity, playing the straight man perfectly. Jason Sudeikis' undeniable charm shines through in his performance, showing that he could be a force to be reckoned with in leading comedy films.

Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, Hit-Monkey is an impressive animated Hulu series, following the adventures of a wronged Japanese macaque, a monkey, by the ghost of an American assassin as he tries to damage the criminal underworld in Tokyo. Hit-Monkey utilizes its unique premise to craft an enjoyable series with incredible animation throughout. The series leans into its violence and blurry morality, making it a fantastic contrast to Marvel Studios' output with the MCU.

Jason Sudeikis plays Bryce Fowler in the series, Hit-Monkey's ghost mentor assassin, who is constantly giving him advice and helping him with his mission. Even after his death, Bryce is cheerful and upbeat, the perfect role for Sudeikis to step into, putting a lot of his charming personality into his performance.

Running for four seasons, The Last Man on Earth was a fantastic post-apocalyptic comedy about a man who believes he is the last person in the world following a deadly virus outbreak. He eventually meets up with another character, who thinks they are meant to repopulate the planet. The Last Man on Earth is ambitious with its narrative, and is often funny, making it an easy watch that allows viewers to chew on some more headier themes that pop up throughout.

Jason Sudeikis has a recurring role in The Last Man on Earth, appearing mostly in the second and fourth seasons of the series. He plays Mike Miller, an astronaut who is stuck in Earth's orbit in the International Space Station, having only pet worms to help with his loneliness before finding his way back to Earth. It's a bit more reserved of a role for Sudeikis, but he does an incredible job, and nails the comedic moments that the character sometimes finds himself in.

Hilarious from start to finish, 30 Rock revolves around Tina Fey's Liz Lemon, the head writer for a live sketch-comedy show in New York City, who is thrown for a loop after she is forced to hire an unstable movie star for the cast. Very loosely based on Saturday Night Live backstage shenanigans, 30 Rock ranks among the best TV comedies of all time, remaining relevant and timely even over a decade after it finished airing.

Jason Sudeikis plays Floyd DeBarber in the series, an attorney who works at 30 Rock. He eventually becomes a love interest for Liz Lemon, following a series of hijinks that began when he accidentally sent Valentine's Day flowers to her instead of his girlfriend, who was also named Liz. Jason Sudeikis' comedic chemistry with Tina Fey is a key aspect of his performance, and he often finds himself in absurd, hilarious situations with Liz Lemon.

Running for 16 seasons and counting, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been on the air longer than any other American live-action sitcom ever, a remarkable achievement for a series that had such humble, low-budget beginnings. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia follows a group of friends, who also happen to be awful people, as they spend most of their time drinking, scheming, and arguing. Having these types of characters front and center is the main appeal of the series, and it is relentlessly funny.

Jason Sudeikis only appears in two episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, playing Peter "Schmitty" Schmidt, a former member of the gang back in their high school days, who gets his spot back in the gang after they decide to kick out Charlie. Sudeikis plays well alongside the abhorrent characters in the show, making it believable that he could fit in with the gang if he had been a main staple of the group.

The directorial debut of actor Olivia Wilde, Booksmart is a hilarious high school comedy in the vein of Superbad, about two overachieving high school girls about to graduate who decide to finally break the rules and party. Booksmart is one of the funniest studio comedies of the past decade, with a fresh take on the teen comedy. Quickly paced, raunchy, and sharp-witted, it's highly entertaining and is also poignant several times throughout.

Booksmart firmly belongs to Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever but features a strong supporting cast, including Jason Sudeikis as Principal Jordan Brown. Though his role isn't too big, one of the funniest scenes in the film is when he picks up Feldstein and Dever's characters after they book a rideshare. His comedic timing is perfect at that moment, really playing well against the other actors and the absurdity of the scene at hand.

Eastbound and Down is a comedy series that follows Kenny Powers, a former Major League Baseball pitcher whose self-destructive behavior forces him into retirement. Played by Danny McBride, Kenny is an egotistical and brash character who returns to his hometown to work as a physical education teacher while plotting a comeback. The series, which premiered in 2009, explores themes of redemption and the pitfalls of fame.

Eastbound & Down is criminally underrated, and very well might be the best role of Danny McBride's career. Relentlessly funny, Eastbound & Down follows a former professional pitcher whose career declined and eventually returns to his hometown to coach the middle school baseball team. The series is often obnoxious and vulgar, but McBride brings a lot of quirky charm to the series, and once it found its footing, it grew into an incredible show.

Jason Sudeikis plays twins Shane and Cole Gerald in several episodes of Eastbound & Down. Shane Gerald is the best friend and former teammate of McBride's Kenny Powers, with a similar personality. After his death, Cole is introduced and plays a minor role in a few more episodes. Sudeikis pulls off playing two different characters, differentiating them enough to keep them both interesting. His performance as Shane Gerald is the highlight, though, perfectly matching Bride's absurdity.

When Apple TV+ was set to premiere a show about the Jason Sudeikis character from an NBC Sports promotional campaign, no one could have guessed that Ted Lasso would become one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. Following an American football coach who finds himself in charge of coaching an English soccer team, Ted Lasso is delightfully charming and often hilarious. Full of optimism, it's a nice change of pace from the often cynical aspects of other popular sitcoms.
