Lake Michigan Surfers Sue for Water Quality

The Surfrider Foundation filed suit against U.S. Steel for polluting Lake Michigan waters.

Local surfers joined with the Surfrider Foundation to sue U.S. Steel last month after an October chromium spill at its Portage, Indiana facility polluted Lake Michigan waters. The incident followed a hexavalent chromium spill in April 2017. Surfers have reported skin rashes and urinary tract infections they think are linked to the polluted waters.
