Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii

So you're strapped for cash in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. There are many reasons you might need to make a quick buck: for one thing, there's a pretty early story beat where you need to gather $10,000 relatively quickly in order to upgrade your ship and access Madlantis, home to some of Pirate Yakuza's best mini-games. Maybe you've been struggling with a difficult battle, and want to upgrade your abilities. Or maybe you just spent your last dime trying to win a rare plushie from the UFO Catcher.

The fact of the matter is, money talks in Pirate Yakuza - it's functionally the only resource you can collect and spend. (Points store and the Golden Ball mini-game excluded.) There are no experience points, no traditional leveling system, and no lines of credit - it's just you and all the money in your pocket against the world. So, if you need to line your pockets quickly in Pirate Yakuza, here are a few of the best ways to do so.

How To Make Money Fast In Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii

Take On Bounties

The easiest way to make thousands of dollars quickly in Pirate Yakuza is to take on bounties, which can be found in virtually every part of the map. You unlock bounties pretty early on in the story, during Chapter Two, right after you're turned away from Madlantis for the first time.

When taking on a bounty, don't forget to bring lots of healing items. There's no shame in it, and it may help you claim some high-value bounties at relatively low levels.

In order to find a bounty, look for the red handcuffs icon on your map. Each bounty will be displayed with the target's name and the dollar amount you'll receive for beating them. In general, higher rewards correlate with higher difficulty, but you can also see an exact difficulty rating (out of five fists) by walking up to the bounty target and interacting with them. You can still back out at this point if they're too tough. From there, though, it's just a matter of beating them in combat. You'll claim the rewards immediately.

Other Ways To Make Money

Crazy Delivery

Of course, if all else fails, you could always become an Uber driver. No, seriously - Majima can make a fair bit of money pretty quickly by participating in the Crazy Delivery mini-game, returning here from Infinite Wealth. It plays a lot like the classic Sega arcade game Crazy Taxi. You travel around a limited area of Honolulu, picking up food and dropping it off in the hands of hungry customers. You get bonus points for the amount of food you collect, as well as for performing tricks. This is really the only mini-game that converts directly into income.

Finding Treasure

Another good way to make money in Pirate Yakuza is, predictably, to search for treasure. In fact, I had almost $10,000 by the time I hit Chapter Two just from doing a few treasure hunts. Look for islands on your sea maps marked with chest icons, and sail over. You'll have to complete a brief raid, usually ending in a final boss, with a few members of your crew. At the end of it all, you'll usually get at least a few thousand dollars. Be warned, though, that you can't heal during treasure raids.

Selling Stuff

You may also want to check your inventory to see if you have anything worth selling. Things like plates and watches can be sold to any of the pawn shops around Honolulu for a decent bit of cash. You find these pretty reliably by dumpster diving and opening briefcases, so keep an eye out for sparkly, glowing piles of trash as you wander the world.

Fan-favorite Goro Majima stars in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, a thoroughly fun and unflinchingly self-indulgent romp that sometimes loses direction.

Of course, these are far from the only ways to make money - you'll also find quite a bit just by completing random encounters, defeating rival pirates at sea, or engaging in battle at the Pirates' Coliseum. But if you need to save up fast, you can't beat these methods in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
