Love Is Blind Season 8: Monica Danús’s Family Drama Explained (Is Her Sister Nicolle Jealous Of Her?)
Episodes 7-9 of Love Is Blindseason 8 dropped on Netflix on February 21st, and eager audiences will finally watch the newly engaged couples discover their compatibility (or lack thereof) in the real world, and learn more about Monica Danús's issues with her sibling. A lot of time was devoted to the Love Is Blind season 8 cast's families, and while some cast members were welcomed with open arms by their partners' families, others did not get the same treatment. Specifically, Monica had one family member who was very disapproving of her engagement to Love Is Blind's Joey Leveille.
Monica's sister, Nicolle, took Monica aside during the family's first time meeting Joey to express her concern over the fast-moving relationship. It's possible the audience didn't see the full extent of the conversation between the sisters. However, most of the points Nicolle made were superficial, leading to Joey's later analysis that she may be jealous of her younger sister.
Monica Danús's Family Is Very Close
Their Approval Means A Lot To Her
Monica has made a big point on Love Is Blind season 8 that family is important to her. Her family is so close that they have a communal sock bin they all pull from when they need a pair of socks. That's why the first time Joey met the people Monica grew up with was such a critical moment for their relationship.

Monica's parents, her sister Nicolle, and Nicolle's boyfriend, Trevor, were all gathered for the meet-up. One topic of conversation was Trevor and Monica's previous relationship; they had dated briefly before Trevor and Nicolle started dating. Although it seemed like the whole family took delight in this tidbit, including in Joey's jokes that Trevor was secretly still into Monica, the conversation set the stage for Monica and Nicolle's later discussion, where Nicolle did not seem happy with Monica's decisions regarding her relationship.
Nicolle Does Not Approve Of Joey
Her Reasons Were Suspicious
There are plenty of reasons to be concerned about a loved one's decisions on Love Is Blind, including the fact that the relationships move extremely quickly from first meetings to marriages. However, Nicolle cited other more questionable reasons why she didn't necessarily approve of Monica marrying Joey. Most notably, Nicolle seemed upset that Monica would potentially be getting married before her, despite Nicolle being the older sister. See a dramatic moment above, via Monica's Instagram.
Later in the season, Joey suggests to Monica that Nicolle's hostility towards him may be due to jealousy. Nicolle's comment that she felt she should get married first encapsulates Joey's point best. Even if Nicolle is older and has been with her boyfriend for longer than Monica and Joey have been together, everyone moves on their own timeline.
Siblings can't expect the significant events in their lives to happen in the same order they were born in.
Nicolle also told her sister that Joey wasn't Monica's usual type. Monica quickly shot back that she didn't have a type, but Nicolle insisted that if Monica could design a dream guy, he would be a "6'5" Italian model." To Monica, Joey's appearance isn't the determining factor in their relationship. Nicolle should understand that there are more elements to a healthy relationship than physical attraction, and her citing Joey's appearance as a reason she didn't think Monica should marry him showed a lack of maturity.
While there's a very good chance we didn't see the entire conversation, the bits we did see showed that Nicolle was not supportive of Monica's decision to potentially marry Joey. Her reasons seemed immature and indicated jealousy. If Monica and Joey do get married on Love Is Blind, hopefuilly Nicolle warms up to him and accepts him into the family.
