The exhibition, titled "The Art of Manga", will be the first of its kind, allowing visitors to explore a beautiful, diverse collection of "more than 700 drawings" created by Japan's most gifted artists. The artists who will have works included in the exhibit areFujio Akatsuka, Hirohiko Araki, Tetsuya Chiba, Eiichiro Oda, Gengoroh Tagame, Rumiko Takahashi, Keiichi Tanaami, JiroTaniguchi, Kazumi Yamashita, Mari Yamazaki, and Fumi Yoshinaga, a list that includes some of the best manga artists of the current generation. Not only will the pieces on display be incredible, some of them are being unveiled for the first time.

Over the past few years especially, manga has become an even more widely appreciated art form in the United States specifically, so it is the ideal time for an exhibit such as "The Art of Manga" to expose more newcomers to manga and allow fans who already adore the artwork to spend more time appreciating it. Visitors can anticipate seeing exclusive pieces that have never been unveiled before, and a handful of these artworks have already been released by the museum, offering a sneak peek into what the expansive exhibit has in store for visitors later in the year.

A Few Art Pieces Have Already Been Unveiled, Offering a Sneak Peek

Araki’s Artwork Is Filled With Bold Colors and Vivid Detail, Depicting Stone Ocean’s Protagonist

One such piece was created by Hirohiko Araki, who created the masterpiece, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. His art piece features Jolyne Cujoh, the protagonist of the Stone Ocean arc of the manga. The brightly colored drawing bursts with vibrant pops of color and Jolyne stands in the center, with a massive rainbow swirling behind her. Small black and purple butterflies surround her and stand out against the sky blue background of the image, and Jolyne's Stand, Stone Free, holds onto her, colored in bright pink shades rather than the Stand's typical blue and green hues from the anime series.

Although the exhibit will not open until later in the fall, those interested can admire the artworks that are already available now, such as a hand-drawn manga panel by Eiichiro Oda and a colorful print by Keiichi Tanaami. If the art pieces that have already been revealed are any indicator, "The Art of Manga" will be an unforgettable experience that any fan of anime or manga will not want to miss. Manga's best creators are bringing their best work to this exhibition, ensuring that those in North America can take a moment to appreciate the spellbinding beauty and wonder of the art style.
