Married At First Sight: What Happened To Bao After Season 13
Bao Hoang is one of the many cast members that left Married At First Sightseason 13 on a sour note, but since departing from the experimental dating show, Bao has found her happy ending. Bao endured a challenging marriage with her college friend Johnny Lam in season 13, as fans agreed the groom was quick to criticize his former wife. From celebrating the conclusion of her turbulent adventure on Married At First Sight to her burgeoning relationship with a fellow season 13 cast member, there's a lot to know about Bao since Decision Day.
Married at First Sight season 13 took place in Houston, Texas, and featured five couples getting married. The season was filmed early 2021, and debuted in July 2021. It ran until late November 2021. Brett Layton and Ryan Ignasiak, Jose San Miguel and Rachel Gordillo, Gil Cuero and Myrla Feria, and Zach Freeman and Michaela Clark, in addition to Bao and Johnny got married to their stranger spouses on the show.
Bao & Johnny's MAFS Journey
Bao Knew Johnny
Initially, fans had high hopes for Lifetime's Bao and Johnny. Not only were these newlyweds the first to have a Vietnamese wedding in the hit dating series, Johnny and Bao also had a fascinating relationship history before tying the knot. While every other couple that's swapped vows in Married At First Sight hadn't set eyes on each other before meeting at the altar, Johnny's was a familiar face to Bao. During their college years, Bao had been introduced to Johnny, although he eventually ghosted her.
At first, Bao and Johnny's previous experience together appeared to be a strength. Sadly, Johnny conveyed more aggravation than affection for his wife, and the pair quickly revealed themselves to be among the weakest of the season 13 bunch. Despite Johnny's hesitancy to commit to his marriage with his new spouse, Bao was a determined wife throughout the couple's time on Married At First Sight. By Decision Day, however, Johnny was singing a new tune and shocked fans with his decision to stay married.
Regrettably, Bao wasn't able to let go of Johnny's behavior during the season and opted for divorce. Since saying goodbye to Johnny on the dramatic Decision Day, Bao doesn't seem to have any regrets. On Instagram, Bao's demonstrated just how content she is without Johnny. In a post-show share, Bao explained that she didn't get what she expected out of Married At First Sight, but that she's found peace since exiting the series. Bao wrote that although her short-lived marriage was a harrowing venture, "I could not have persevered without the endless love and support of my family and friends."
Bao Started A Relationship With A MAFS Season 13 Co-Star
Is Bao Still In A Relationship?
Bao might not have ended up with the husband the Married At First Sight relationship experts paired her with, but once the star took matters into her own hands, Bao discovered another suitable partner from the season 13 crew. While the tragic events of Johnny and Bao's marriage were still unfolding on TV, rumors emerged of Bao's blossoming relationship with fellow season 13 star, Zack. The pair was spotted out on the town and at art exhibits but asserted they were only friends.
MAFS fans theorized the couple couldn't admit they were together until the status of their marriages with their former partners, Johnny and Michaela, was confirmed on Decision Day. During the Married At First Sight "Where Are They Now?" episode, Bao and Zack finally validated viewers' suspicions of their romance. In another Married At First Sight first, Bao officially got in a relationship with another wife's ex-husband, Zack.
However, in late 2021 Bao and Zack announced their split after rumors of Zack allegedly cheating on Bao surfaced.
Since Bao and Zack broke up, Bao has not revealed whether she has dated anyone else. None of her posts on Instagram indicate that she has someone special in her life. However, Bao is very involved with her dog, Tofu, who frequently makes appearances on her page.
What Does Bao Do For Work?
& What Is Her Personal Life Like?
Bao proudly states in her Instagram bio that she works as a Research Department Administrator for MD Anderson Cancer Center. Bao still resides in Houston, and keeps herself busy with her dog, and a new passion. Bao recently participated in a half-marathon (via Viet Vote Houston), and her training up until the event was detailed in a YouTube video which she proudly shares via her Linktree. Bao is also very involved with getting people to vote. She represents her Vietnamese community proudly and gives fans links about Texas voting.
Bao had a difficult time attempting to make her marriage work with Johnny in season 13, but since moving on from the experimental dating series, Bao's enjoyed a much less painful romantic journey. From making it out of an unhealthy relationship to dating a man better-suited for her, Bao isn't settling in the wake of her stressful run on reality TV. Hopefully, Bao and Zack's relationship will make their unsuccessful Married At First Sightexperiences worthwhile.
Married At First Sight airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
