Marvel Rivals Latest Developer Diary Reveals Massive Changes To Heroes, As Well As A New Rank, New Heroes & More
Marvel Rivalsseason one is just around the bend, and the latest developer diary showcases new heroes, changes to Competitive matches and ranks, as well as hero balance changes fans will be thrilled about. While Marvel Rivals has only been out for a short time, the title has amassed a thriving fan base and community. There are, of course, several issues that have already arisen since launch, but it looks as thought NetEase was listening, as a few of the changes coming have been highly requested by fans.
The developer's diary details new heroes coming with season one, which included Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman. Both Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman now have their very own trailers, where we get a glimpse at their toolkits before the launch of season one. That isn't all either, as there will be new maps, a brand-new rank to reach, a new game mode, and more.
Marvel Rivals Season One Will Consist Of Two Halves
Double The Content, Double The Fun
While we knew that The Fantastic Four would be making an appearance, we weren't sure how or when they would be introduced. According to the devs, season one will consist of two halves, and in the first half, we will be getting Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman. The Thing and the Human Torch will be coming around six to seven weeks after the launch of season one.
The battle pass will also be getting a major overhaul, as this time around, it will be double the length of the first battle pass. Ten costumes will be available to collect throughout the battle pass, and the developers say that the Luxury Pass is meant to be infinite once purchased, meaning players can earn the currency needed to renew the next pass.
Some Major Changes Are Making Their Way To Marvel Rivals Season One
New Maps, A New Rank & Balance Changes
NetEase seems to have heard the pleas from fans, as both Hela and Hawkeye will be getting a much-needed nerf in season one. More so, Jeff The Land Shark's ultimate ability, "IT'S JEFF!" will also be getting some changes to its detection range that, the developers state, "align with early warning signals." Captain America and Venom will be receiving a boost, making them a more optimal choice for Vanguard. The data shows that ranged heroes, mainly Duelists, have been dominating in Competitive matches, and NetEase says they will be using this data to curate pick and win rates for both Quick Play and Competitive game modes.
As if that wasn't enough, a new game mode titled "Doom Match" will take place in Sanctum Santorum, and though there are no key details as to what it is yet, we do know that it will be an 8 to 12-player mode where the top 50% of players will claim a win.
The new rank in Competitive is known as Celestial and will be in between the Grandmaster and Eternity rankings, and at the start of season one, all rank standings will be lowered by seven divisions. There is a lot to digest from this Marvel Rivals developer diary, but I think I don't only speak for myself when I say the changes are exciting, and I cannot wait to dive in upon launch.
