Max's New Medical Drama With 91% RT Score Is Already The Streamer's Top TV Show

Max's new medical drama with a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes has already become the streamer's top TV show, less than one week after it first premiered. There are a variety of medical dramas that are currently airing on TV, from ABC's Grey's Anatomy season 21, to NBC's Chicago Med season 10, to the recently-renewed sitcom St. Denis Medical. The genre has permeated network TV for decades, ever since the success of the '90s TV series ER, created by Michael Crichton. It's a genre that allows for dramatic tension between characters, alongside the weekly cases they need to work with.

Most medical dramas can be found on standard network channels, but some streaming services, like Max, also highlight the genre. The TV shows on Max are oftentimes series that are also aired on HBO, such as critically acclaimed shows like The Penguin and The Last of Us. However, the streamer also airs plenty of original programs as well, from successful comedies like Hacks to the first entry in James Gunn's DC Universe, Creature Commandos. One of its newest series, however, is a medical drama that's found a large audience.

The Pitt Is Already Max's Top TV Show After Less Than A Week

Noah Wyle's Medical Drama Puts A Unique Twist On The Genre

Max's The Pitthas already become a top TV show on the streaming platform, less than one week after its two-episode premiere. Created by R. Scott Gemmill, the story follows Dr. Michael "Robby" Rabinavitch (Noah Wyle) during his emergency room shift at the fictitious Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, on the anniversary of his mentor's death. The series pulls from shows like 24 in its presentation, with every new episode covering one real-time hour of Robby's shift. This includes his interactions with other characters in The Pittas they deal with a plethora of emergencies and drama.

Now, FlixPatrol has confirmed The Pitt has been Max's Number 1 TV show in the United States for the last four days, following its two-episode premiere on Thursday, January 9. This ranks it above every other show on the list, those being 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Sister Wives, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Creature Commandos, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, Bookie, The West Wing, Banshee, and Hacks. It also makes it the most popular Max original on the platform as of writing, beating out three other original streaming shows since it premiered.

The Pitt season 1 will consist of 15 episodes, all featuring a real-time structure.

What The Pitt's Success Means For The Show's Future On Max

The Series Could Have A Lengthy Future Ahead

With 13 episodes left, Wyle's medical drama could have a lengthy, successful future ahead as new episodes get released. However, the series is still marred by controversy, with Warner Bros. TV getting sued by Sherri Crichton, who claims The Pitt is copying ER, citing it originally being envisioned as a spinoff. However, since it's still unclear what the lawsuit's outcome will be, it isn't likely to impact the success and longevity of the series on Max for quite some time, if at all.

New episodes of The Pitt arrive Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Max.
