Tom Hardy confirms a Venomand Spider-Man crossover movie never even started development at Sony or Marvel. Recently, Tom Hardy lamented that a Venom and Spider-Man crossover "got close" to happening. Unfortunately, there are no plans for Sony and Marvel to bring Tom Holland's wall-crawler and Tom Hardy's symbiote anti-hero together anytime soon. In fact, Sony's Spider-Man Universe is on indefinite pause, and there are no other Spider-Man-related projects in Sony or Marvel's slate other than Destin Daniel Cretton's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, coming 2026.
In an interview with AP News,Venom star Tom Hardy clarifies that a Venom and Spider-Man crossover movie was never considered. Hardy states that he's no longer attached to Sony's Venom franchise after Venom: The Last Dance, and says that he "would have liked" starring as Eddie Brock in a movie featuring Spider-Man because his kids would love to watch it. “People embellish a story. I just said I would have loved to work with ‘Spider-Man,’ but it never happened, which is a fact. It hasn’t happened. And I’m no longer working with ‘Venom’ … it is a shame because my kids would love to watch Venom and Spider-Man together,” said Hardy. “I would have liked that.”

Tom Hardy Wasn't Referring To A Specific Movie
When Tom Hardy said a Venom and Spider-Man movie "got as close as [he] could possibly imagine getting," he was probably referring to the fact that his Venom portrayal starred in his own trilogy at the same time as Tom Holland's first MCU trilogy and Avengers appearances. In theory, it would have been possible for Sony and Marvel to bring Hardy's Venom and Holland's Spider-Man together before Hardy left the role. Unfortunately, that didn't happen before Venom: The Last Dance finished the Venom trilogy over at Sony.

Tom Hardy confirmed he's no longer playing Eddie Brock and Venom. Many actors have retired from their Marvel roles before accepting a role in the MCU. For instance, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman decided to say farewell to Charles Xavier and Wolverine, respectively, in James Mangold's Logan, only to reprise their roles in the MCU a few years later. While this could be the case for Tom Hardy's Venom, Marvel and Sony's chance to make a Spider-Man and Venom crossover movie may be completely missed after Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga ends.

The Multiverse Saga is probably going to end after Avengers: Secret Wars, and the concept of the multiverse might not be as accessible after Phase 6. Meanwhile, Sony's Spider-Man Universe will probably remain on hold, Tom Hardy will star in new projects not connected to Venomand Marvel, and Tom Holland's Spider-Man will move on to new adventures and adversaries. If Holland's Spider-Man ever meets Eddie Brock and the symbiote, they might be a new version of both characters altogether.
