New Pokémon TCG Tins Scheduled To Hit Stores In May But Getting Them May Take Some Luck
Pokémon Trading Card Gamecollectors looking to add a new tin to their stash will want to brace for the launch of "Slashing Legends," especially since they'll likely be difficult to purchase. With the Pokémon TCG hobby growing exponentially over the last few years, it's becoming harder and harder to track down various sets, especially at launch. Even smaller products that may have once drawn less attention from scalpers are becoming the targets of severe price gouging, so fans must be proactive to grab anything they want.
Per PokéBeach, the "Slashing Legends" tin will be released in May and will retail for $24,99. The tin consists of five booster packs, a code card for Pokémon TCG Live, and either a Koraidon ex or Zacian ex promo card; Both are the English versions of cards currently only available in the Japanese-exclusive ex Starter Decks: Generations [SVM]. Collectors should be aware that the "Slashing Legends" tin is pulled from the "Journey Together" set which is set to be released in March 2025.
Pokémon TCG Slashing Legends Tins Arrive Soon But They Might Be Gone Quickly
Previous Tins Sold Out In Less Than A Day
Given the value-proposition of a Pokémon TCG tin, these products have gained a reputation for selling out incredibly quickly. It's likely that "Slashing Legends" will be a hot-ticket item the moment it's available, so collectors looking to avoid scalpers will want to act quickly. Fortunately, retailers are beginning to implement measures to prevent people from loading up on new Pokémon TCG releases, but how effective they'll be in the long run remains to be seen.
GameStop has recently announced that it will no longer allow pre-orders for new Pokémon TCG items online, requiring collectors to physically visit their local store. This means that items can be better shared amongst interested buyers rather than scalpers dominating the market. Additionally, The Pokémon Center is implementing a new queue system to reduce the number of products automatically purchased by bots, further reducing the prevalence of price-gouging.

Pokémon TCG Goods Are Becoming Harder To Get A Hold Of
That's The Price Of Popularity
As someone who's an avid fan of the digital version of the Pokémon TCG, it's impossible to not see the card game's success as a double-edged sword. It's wonderful to see it grow and continue to entertain current generations but the struggle to stay up-to-date with current releases makes the physical version inaccessible for new players. Given the rise in scalpers and near-endless amount of supplementary products, like "Slashing Legends," it's becoming increasingly harder to keep up with the game.
