State Senator Kevin Ranker (D-Orcas Island) introduced his Orca Protection Act, part of a broader Salish Sea Protection Package, earlier this month in committee. The bill would tackle the biggest threats to the endangered whales: toxins, lack of food, and noise pollution from boats.
