As per a PTI report, the incident took place on June 5 when she went to her apartment after attending duty at the hospital. Her death came to light when she was not responding to phone calls from her husband, friends and family members.

Finding it suspicious, her husband who is also a doctor at a private hospital rushed to the house and found the door locked from inside. He broke open the door with help from neighbours and found his wife in an unconscious state. He found syringes next to her. An empty 10 mg ampoule of vecuronium bromide was also found next to her. Vecuronium bromide is a muscle relaxant as part of general anaesthesia in surgeries.

Immediately, her husband and neighbours rushed her to NIMS Hospital but the doctors declared her dead. Following this, the police were informed who sent her body for postmortem to identify more details related to her death.

The reason for her resorting to the extreme step is under investigation, an official said. A case of suspicious death has been registered under section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Meanwhile, TOI sources said that about a month ago, the doctor and her family moved from their old apartment in Begumpet to a new apartment in Moosapet. However, as per the daily sources, she ended her life at the old apartment and the reason is unknown.
