After the Olympic National Park burglar, Alexander Turney, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary this spring, he was sentenced to pay $16,297.54 in restitution–most of it back to the park, and some to the people who had unknowingly bought stolen goods from him. Turney committed a string of burglaries and vandalized cars at Olympic in the fall of 2017. Rangers caught him during a sting operation in which he attempted to steal tools from a maintenance building.
