The new Onyx Storm quoteRebecca Yarros posted to her Instagram shows that audiences will get a glimpse at General Sorrengail's journals from her time as a Captain in Navarre's army. That in of itself is exciting as it could reveal several pieces of new information, but those journals could also elaborate on information that was already disclosed, giving Violet the answers she craves.

While this is not one of the largest updates for Onyx Storm, it could be the first step for Violet to find more information on the venin threat. Her mother was a part of the suppression efforts for years as she rose to become General, so those journals could lead Violet to discover a way to defeat the venin. That being said, her earlier journals may not be the only ones Violet finds, allowing Yarros to expand on one of the many small details featured in Iron Flame: Xaden's deal with General Sorrengail that resulted in his scars.

General Sorrengail's deal with Xaden was the loyalty of the marked ones in exchange for a favor, which was codified through the 107 scars on Xaden's back.
