A mating pair of peregrine falcons has returned to nest at Tallulah Gorge State Park, a rare sight because DDT pesticides and egg collecting wiped the species out on the East Coast several decades ago. When peregrines were spotted in the park three years ago, it was the first time in 75 years a nest had been confirmed in a wild setting in Georgia. The park has closed rock climbing near the falcons; visitors can spot them from the South Rim Trail.
