Pokémon Day 2025 Predictions: Games, New Reveals, & TCG Announcements
February 27th is the official day when countless people worldwide can celebrate the birthday of the iconic Pokémon franchise. On top of being a grand celebration of the franchise's long-running history, it is also a day where The Pokémon Company announces many of the big upcoming projects that will be released later in the year. These can range anywhere from new animated series to trading cards, but what fans are the most interested in by far are the video games, whether they be mainline games, spin-offs, or mobile titles.
The Pokémon Day Pokémon Presents is usually when all the biggest announcements are made on stream. Last year, Pokémon Legends: Z-A was first revealed, though there has been only silence since then despite the high levels of enthusiasm from countless fans. This year, there will be many exciting announcements regarding what's to come for Pokémon, including new content for existing games and potential brand-new titles.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Could Get New Booster Packs
More Booster Packs Focused On Other Pokémon Generations
It is undeniable that Pokémon TCG Pocket's popularity has exploded ever since its initial release in October 2024. The game has drawn in countless players worldwide primarily due to the numerous incredible rare cards that can be collected from the various booster packs. With how popular this mobile title is, it would be very fitting for a new set to be revealed and possibly even released on Pokémon Day itself, with the possibilities of what it could be being nearly endless.
Many people might argue that it would be too soon for another new set to come out, considering the fact that Mythical Island only came out just last month. However, considering that said set was released only two months after the game first came out, a new set coming out in February 2025 seems perfectly reasonable. Although there has been no indication of what's coming beyond Mythical Island, a set centered around Generation 2 would be the most logical next step.
More Information Regarding Legends: Z-A Is Finally Revealed
Players Finally Get Long-Awaited Detail
By far, this year's most anticipated Pokémon game is Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which was announced during last year's Pokémon Presents and received an overwhelmingly positive response. This game is the long-awaited return to the Kalos region that fans have been asking for, complete with a new, original story and the return of the Mega Evolution battle mechanic. There is a very high chance that a lot of content that had been cut from the original X & Y games will finally be able to be properly utilized in this game's narrative, assuming that there is a big focus around the legendary Pokémon Zygarde.
While there is no doubt that more information regarding Legends: Z-A will be revealed in a new trailer on Pokémon Day, the specifics of what exactly will be shown to the public remains a complete mystery. It is very likely that more of Lumiose City will finally be shown off, allowing fans to finally see how different this iconic location looked long ago. Along with this, the trailer should make sure to show off potential new mega evolutions and possibly any ride Pokémon that players will have at their disposal.
A Potential New Game Could Be Announced
Online Rumors Hint At Another Possible Mainline Title
On top of the highly anticipated Legends: Z-A, there is a rumor circulating online regarding another possible mainline Pokémon game being confirmed for this year. Although every piece of information only boils down to mere rumors and speculation, the fact that The Pokémon Company has been slowly teasing more content that's related to the Unova games cannot be ignored. It could be entirely possible that something related to Generation 5 could also be revealed on Pokémon Day 2025, but only time will tell just how true these rumors are.
There is always something to look forward to every year on February 27th, and this year is looking to be one of the biggest celebrations yet. With so much potential new content and new games on the horizon, it is only a matter of time before fans everywhere find out what's in store for them in the coming months. Truly, Pokémon Day 2025 is sure to be incredible, proving that the future of the Pokémon franchise is still looking brighter than ever.
