Secret rare cards are highly sought after by collectors everywhere, as they are seen as incredibly valuable thanks to the unique illustrations that are made by very talented artists. The fact that these illustrations feature numerous iconic trainers from the franchise only further adds to their value, as fans will want to get their hands on any card that features their favorite human characters in the franchise. Although many of these secret rare cards are downright incredible, there are some that are clear standouts in this set that are worth keeping an eye out for.
N's Zoroark Ex Showcases Both Power & Cunning
A Great Card Exuding A Devious Nature
Zoroark is known to be a rather crafty Pokémon due to its ability to disguise itself as any human or Pokémon, so it's only natural that the secret rare artwork for N's Zoroark hints at this somewhat devious nature. The illustration made by Megumi Mizutoni shows Zoroark in a battle-ready stance, smiling at whatever opponent is facing it down. All the while, N stands beside it, appearing rather calm as he issues battle commands.
This artwork is a perfect reflection of how to utilize N's Zoroark card in the game. Players are meant to build up Zoroark's amount of energy until it can use its Night Joker attack. This attack, in turn, will allow Zoroark to be able to use any attack from the player's own N's Pokémon, allowing for them to sneakily build up to using something unexpected, such as N's Reshiram's immensely powerful Virtuous Flame attack.
Lillie's Clefairy & Rhibombee Are Utterly Adorable
Bright & Happy Scenes Featuring Cute Pokemon
Lillie's signature Owner's Pokémon is her Clefairy, and it managed to get its own secret rare artwork that's undeniably cute. The illustration by the artist Susumu Maeya depicts the duo residing in a field of flowers, with the sunlight illuminating the beautiful green scenery around them. Clefairy appears to be rather excited about something, cheering while Lillie sits beside her with a determined look on her face — an expression that makes it hard not to wonder what exactly they are preparing for.
The secret rare featuring Lillie's Rhibombee is equally adorable simply due to the overall pleasant nature of the scene. This artwork by saino misaki shows Lillie sitting indoors in a place that's surrounded by numerous flowers, including some pink and white potted ones right next to her. As she sits, her Rhibombee flies close with a smile on its face, and Lillie reaches out her hand to gently touch its own in a similar happy gesture.
Multiple Fantastic Secret Rare Cards For Other Pokémon
Owner's Pokémon Aren't The Only Secret Rares Available
Surprisingly, it is not only the Owner's Pokémon cards that have received rare illustrations in Journey Together, which makes sense considering how many other powerful cards are being featured. Some of the most notable secret illustrations in this set have gone to Pokémon like Noibat and Salamence, both of whom are incredibly popular and beloved by fans of the franchise. Noibat's illustration features an adorable scene where it is sitting in a cave munching on berries, while Salamence's card is an epic display of its sheer ferocity as it flies through the air spewing fire from its mouth.
Pokémon TCG's emphasis on Ultra and Secret Rares has generally increased over the years, which is great news for some collectors and frustrating for others.
Ultimately, it's hard to deny how incredible the secret rare cards in Journey Together are. These unique illustrations are a perfect reflection of many of these creature's personalities or their battle tactics, making them a fantastic representation of how they each interact with either their trainer or the outside world. Pokémon Trading Card Game collectors everywhere will likely be eager to get their hands on many of these cards once they are finally released to the public, and that rush should leave them highly sought-after in the weeks to come.
