Pokémon TCG Pocket Finally Gives Away “Lost” Promo Card
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is finally giving away a promo card that has long thwarted players as a hole in their collection. In addition to the standard cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island sets, Pokémon TCG Pocket also has over 30 different promo cards. Over the last few months, these cards have been made available for limited times, usually tied to special events. Now, a final missing promo card is being added to Pokémon TCG Pocket players' collections, starting today.
Today, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced that it was giving away the Pokédex trainer card in celebration of players pulling 40 billion cards. Players can collect the new trainer card by going into their gift menu. This card was previously unavailable in Pokémon TCG Pocket and allows players to look at the top three cards in their deck. The card will be available to all players until April 30th, 2025. This is the final promo card for the Promo-A card set, which consists of 33 cards.

Promo Cards Are Available Through Missions, Events, And In-Game Shop
Pokémon TCG Pocket's promo cards are generally available through limited-time events, although some standard promo cards are available in the shop to purchase using shop tickets. Most of the promo cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket are reprints featuring new art, but there are a handful of exclusive cards like Jigglypuff and Lapras ex that were only available during their limited-time events. The cards available in the shop are all trainer cards that generally provide some extra flexibility and usefulness to decks by reducing retreat costs or providing some basic healing.
It's unclear whether Pokémon TCG Pocket will make any of its promo cards available in the future. On the one hand, having limited cards tied to events provides a great way to keep players logging in on a daily basis. However, the limited-time nature of events punishes new players and guarantees that those players will always have a hole in their collection unless promo cards are available for trading. With a new set rumored to come out at the end of this month, it feels like this promo card giveaway is meant to cap off the Genetic Apex era of Pokémon TCG Pocket. All 33 promo cards were released over the past few months, which basically means that all the available content in the game is now available at least until the next set comes out.
I hope that Pokémon TCG Pocket provides some clarity about whether any promo cards will be made available in the future, as it wasn't that hard to miss out on a few cards because of bad luck or a late start to the game.
