Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches New Drop Event, Adding Adorable New Pawmot Promo Card

A new Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket event just went live, adding an adorable new promo card for collectors. It's a busy time for Pokémon TCG Pocket players, with Shining Revelry out now and Ranked Matches in full swing. And now, the game has launched a new solo event focused on battling against new Electric-type decks focused around Pawmot and its pre-evolved forms, although players may need to do some grinding to snag the best card in the set.

On Monday, Pokémon TCG Pocket launched the Pawmot Drop Event (per Serebii), a new solo event in which players battle against a series of Electric-type decks to collect new promo packs. The highlight of the new event is a brand-new Illustration Rare Pawmot card, which features both Pawmot and its pre-evolved forms in a fluffy stack of adorableness. Other promo cards appearing in the Drop Event include Machamp, Floatzel, Ekans, and Bidoof. The new event runs until April 17.

What Rewards Are In The Pawmot Drop Event?

Players Can Earn Up To 36 Wonder Hourglasses In Addition To Rewards

As with every Drop Event, players compete against a series of Electric-type decks with escalating difficulty levels. The highest level of difficulty deck is a Pikachu ex/Pawmot deck, with Pawmot acting as a wall so that Pikachu ex can charge up with Electric-type energy. Parichisu also acts as an energy accelerator in multiple decks, helping to speed Pikachu ex's charging even more. The higher difficulty decks also come with a series of rewards for completing various tasks, with up to 36 different Wonder Hourglasses up for grabs.

For those trying to figure out the ideal deck to use in the new Drop Event, now might be the perfect time to build a Sudowoodo deck. The deck is built around Sudowoodo's ability to hit Pokémon ex cards very hard, with Lucario serving as a passive buff to boost up all Fighting-type Pokémon's attacks. Marshadow is also useful as it can easily knock out Pikachu ex if it manages to take out one of your Pokémon thanks to its Revenge attack, which deals more damage the turn immediately after one of your Pokémon has been knocked out.

Our Take: Solid But Predictable Event

Drop Events Are Solid Time-Killers And A Chance to Deckbuild

The Machamp card from Pokémon TCG Pocket.

Drop Events for Pokémon TCG Pocket are solid time-killers for fans. While none of the events are particularly difficult, they each offer a set of new promo packs and allow for players to tweak certain decks before bringing them into more high-stakes contests. This particular Drop Event is solid because it should incentivize players to build up their Sudowoodo decks for use in battles. A potent Sudowoodo deck can be a disrupting force against several kinds of decks, but Electric-type Pokémon ex decks should particularly watch out.
