Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches New Wonder Pick Event, But There's A Major Missing Component
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has launched a new Wonder Pick event, but a key component will be missing for at least a little while. As Pokémon TCG Pocket prepares for its next full expansion, the game keeps players busy with various smaller events. Many of these events are focused on battling, such as the ongoing Blastoise Drop Event, but others allow players to add new cards to their collection as well.
Pokémon TCG Pocket has launched another new Wonder Pick event, focusing on Squirtle and Charmander. Similar to other Wonder Pick events, the event will introduce two new promo cards, this time featuring Charmander and Squirtle. Players can get these cards either through random Chansey Wonder Picks or through free bonus Wonder Picks. While the bonus Wonder Picks include special Shop Exchange tickets, there's currently no way to exchange those tickets in the shop. Per The Pokémon Company, cosmetics for the event along with missions will be added on Wednesday.

Datamines Indicate New Rewards That Include Blastoise-Themed Cosmetics
While there are no rewards currently available for this event, datamines have revealed what cosmetics will eventually appear in the event. Per PokeGirlLauren over on X, cosmetic rewards will include a new binder and display boards featuring Blue from Pokémon Red & Blue and his partner Pokémon Blastoise. Also included is a new Blastoise coin and a new Blastoise emblem, which will mean that all three Kanto Starter Pokémon will have emblems and coins available to players in the game.
Of course, it's still very odd that Pokémon TCG Pocket would launch a new event without having its missions and rewards available. It's a rare miss for Pokémon TCG Pocket to this point, which had its events run pretty smoothly up to this point. We'll add that Pokémon TCG Pocket has not officially announced the event in the news section of Pokémon TCG Pocket or on any of its social media accounts to this point. We expect that the formal launch for the event will take place at 1 AM ET tomorrow after the rewards and missions are added.

Miscue Could Indicate That Pokémon TCG Pocket Is Running Out Of Runway
Pokémon TCG Pocket's events have run pretty smoothly since launch, with both a steady cadence of new content and a lack of obvious mistakes. Running an event without any missions or rewards makes little sense, especially since a portion of the prizes are shop tickets that can't be exchanged.
What this says to me is that Pokémon TCG Pocket is starting to transition from live service events planned and scheduled before the game's launch and moving to events coordinated after the game's launch. Hopefully, the mistakes made during this event's launch aren't a sign of things to come.
