Pokémon TCG Pocket Leak Reveals Surprising Focus For Next Week's Set
A new leak claims that Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket's next set will focus on a surprising set of Pokémon. While the mobile app has provided no official details about upcoming sets, leaks have claimed that Pokémon TCG Pocket's next set will be released at the end of this month. Fans have assumed that, given Genetic Apex's focus on Gen 1 Pokémon, the next set would have a similar focus on Gen 2 Pokémon. However, an established leaker claims that this won't be the case.
Earlier this morning, the leaker Pyoro posted that the next set would focus on Gen 4 Pokémon. The set, codenamed A2 within Pokémon TCG Pocket's data, is supposedly due to come out on January 30th. No other information was provided about the contents of the new set. Pyoro is generally seen as an accurate leaker, having previously teased or correctly leaked numerous past Switch announcements. Other rumor aggregators, such as Centro Leaks, have picked up on the new information as well.
What We Know About Pokemon TCG Pocket's Next Set
The Set Will Reportedly Come Out On January 30th And Is Codenamed A2
For the most part, all we know about the new Pokémon TCG Pocket set comes from the scant information found in datamines of the app. The app calls the new set A2, which implies that it will be roughly the same size as Genetic Apex, which is codenamed as A1. Many players assumed that the next set would focus on Gen 2 Pokémon, but Pyoro's leak indicates that will not be the case. According to internal Pokémon TCG Pocket data, the next set is due to come out on January 30th. If this release date holds, we should get some additional news about the set this week.
If the set does feature Gen 4 Pokémon instead of Gen 2 Pokémon, it means that Pokémon TCG Pocket will soon contain cards featuring popular Pokémon like Garchomp, Lucario, Dialga, and Palkia. Keep in mind that just because the set will allegedly focus on Gen 4 Pokémon doesn't mean that Pokémon from other generations won't also appear in it. If the new set contains around the same number of cards as Genetic Apex, it means that there's room for dozens more Pokémon, as Gen 4 was a smaller generation than Gen 1.

We're Impressed By The Lack Of Leaks About Pokémon TCG Pocket's Next Set
Honestly, we're surprised that it's taken this long for a substantive leak to appear for Pokémon TCG Pocket's next set. Given that so many events were datamined in the early days of the game, it's clear that developers have taken a more stringent approach to keeping data out of the app until absolutely necessary. Personally, I don't care what Pokémon actually appear in the new set, as I'm dying for new cards. My Mythical Island collection is one card away from completion and I have a stockpile of Pack Hourglasses, so I need a new Pokémon TCG Pocket set to focus on soon.
