Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket Has A Hidden Feature That's Giving Fans A "Dopamine Fix"

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has some hidden features that fans are still discovering, and one is extremely satisfying. The mobile game is a digital version of the popular physical card game, letting fans open booster packs, battle against each other, and collect beautiful cards exclusive to the virtual TCG. The game approximates the feel of opening a pack, moving a card around, and placing cards in binders, but a newly discovered mechanic takes things a step further, simulating flipping cards in a way that fans are loving.

The feature was discovered by Redditor Potatozeng, who shared an image showing the effect mid-animation. According to the Redditor, "you can zoom out in the dex page and there is a cool flipping animation when you do it." Zooming in or out on the Pokédex page makes the cards turn one after the other, in a cascade of card flips. The hidden UI feature is not explained anywhere, so many fans were surprised that it existed.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Fans Discover Dex Flipping Animation But It Doesn't Always Work

The Effect Doesn't Work If The Pokédex Is Sorted By Set

It's easy to activate this feature, as long as the Pokédex is unsorted. All players have to do is go to their Pokédex page and pinch two fingers apart to make the cards zoom out with a flip and a flourish. This can be done twice, with the cards getting smaller each time. Zooming back in is just as simple, taking a finger pinch together, instead. Zooming in either direction triggers the animation.

Fans in the comments were delighted by this discovery, with the wonderfully named Reddit user Chiicken_Tendies thanking the original poster, saying they "just got my dopamine fix from this." There is one catch, though: This only works in an unsorted Pokédex, and cannot be done if the Dex is sorted by set. Despite this setback, the feature is a simple but fun way to interact with the app that many fans were previously unaware of.

Our Take: Pokémon TCG Pocket Is A Great Way To Experience The TCG

Little Details Like The Card Flip Make The Game Even More Fun

Strong cards from Pokémon TCG Pocket

There's nothing quite like holding Pokémon cards in your hand after after pulling them out of a booster pack. Collecting the cards in real life isn't for everyone, though, especially when some card sets can be difficult to get a hold of due to high demand. In the virtual world of TCG Pocket, though, there are no scalpers or shortages, and everyone gets a fair chance to get all the cards.

Even better, every Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocketplayer can open two booster packs per day for free, with the potential to earn more. The digital title might not be quite the same as getting the physical cards, but it's still a great experience thanks to little details like being able to move the card around or the Pokédex card flip animation.
