Recent Storms Not Enough to Save This Year's Snowpack

This week’s rain and snowstorms from the Bay Area to the Sierra have helped alleviate the dry winter, but meteorologists say the precipitation can’t prevent a drier-than-normal year. Because it has dropped plenty of rain, the storm system might actually melt some of the high country’s snow; experts are also concerned the precipitation could cause landslides where the Thomas Fire burned last fall.
