RECOM extends its portfolio with a 50W DC/DC converter with exceptional reliability and efficiency. Fully automated manufacturing results in a cost-efficient solution for PoE and industrial applications.

The RPA50S is a low cost 50W DC/DC converter in industry standard 1/16th brick format and pinning (33mm x 23mm). The 4:1 input range covers 24V, 28V, 48V or 57V nominal input voltages with tightly regulated output voltage options of 3.3V, 5V or 12V, all with +10%/-20% trim. These fully protected modules (SCP, OVP, OCP, OTP, UVLO) can deliver up to 50W to power demanding industrial applications from PoE, regulated DC or unregulated battery supplies.

The RPA50S input voltage surge capability of up to 100V means that long supply cables are unproblematic and the output sense pins can be used to compensate for long output cable voltage drops. The enable pin draws only 1mA, allowing PoE PD interface controllers to directly drive the converter from the PG output. These advanced converters use planar transformer technology to give a low profile design with an isolation voltage of 2.25kVDC/1 minute (basic insulation grade).

The 91% efficiency permits operation from -40°C up to +54°C full load, or up to +85°C with derating, using natural convection cooling only. The fully-automated manufacturing ensures a consistent quality and performance and makes the RPA50S converters highly reliable and robust, even under highly stressful operating conditions. They are IEC/EN/UL60950-1 certified and come with a three-year warranty.
