Remember That White Collar Crossover We All Wanted To See? There's Still A Chance It Happens

A White Collarcrossover that we have been hoping to see for years could happen in the reboot, though it would only be possible under specific circumstances. Updates on the White Collar reboot have remained scarce, with the original creator Jeff Eastin and the returning stars, including Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay, maintaining their silence on the project's details. That silence, though, has not stopped audiences from speculating on what could occur in the reboot and whether some of our own ideas about what the original could have done will be taken into consideration.

As a result, many theories on the White Collar revival have been created since the announcement, as audiences await any news on the series' status. The original show's finale left the characters in a very open spot after Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) flees to Paris, which does not narrow the possibilities on how their complex story could continue. However, another recent reboot could allow the White Collar revival to grow beyond itself, allowing for a crossover audiences have been wanting since both show's original runs concluded years ago: Leverage's reboot,Leverage: Redemption.

After Leverage Got A Reboot, White Collar Is About To Come Back Too

With The Return Of Both Shows, A Crossover Is More Likely To Happen

White Collar and Leverage both have reboots in the 2020s, which increases the possibility of the crossover episode audiences have been waiting for. Leverage ran around the same time as White Collar from 2008 to 2012 and was just as popular among procedural fans. The series was then revived years later, with the first two seasons of Leverage: Redemption premiering on Freevee. Updates on Leverage: Redemption season 3, though, reveal that it will be moved to Amazon Prime Video, allowing the reboot as much exposure as White Collar received.

Leverage: Redemption premiered on July 9, 2021.

The return of White Collar shortly after its success on Netflix is an unprecedented one, but audiences such as myself are excited for it due to the show's fun atmosphere and characters. Much like Leverage: Redemption, White Collar's original cast seems eager to return, allowing for some great new story possibilities, such as a crossover with the other heist-centric show. That being said, a crossover between White Collar and Leverage's reboots could only happen under specific circumstances that were outlined in a post by Eastin himself regarding the former.

What It Would Take For A White Collar & Leverage Crossover To Happen

Both Shows Would Need To Be Owned By Amazon Prime Video

In order for a White Collar and Leverage crossover to happen, both series would need to be owned by the same streaming service, a fact that has recently become possible according to Eastin. Due to Disney's rejection of the series, the White Collar reboot is being shopped around, giving other studios who may be interested in the procedural a chance to gain some of the same success Netflix found hosting the original. According to Eastin on Twitter, Netflix, Peacock, and Amazon Prime are interested in the White Collar reboot, which could allow for the long-desired Leverage crossover.

White Collar & Psych’s Crossover Is A Reminder Of Something That New TV Shows Should Be Doing Way More Often

In the 2000s, shows like White Collar and Psych had fun crossovers to promote their shows, and TV would undoubtedly benefit from doing this more now.

If Amazon Prime Video gets the White Collar reboot, then a crossover could potentially happen as both shows would be owned by the same platform, making collaboration between the two projects easy. Leverage was originally owned by TNT while White Collar was on USA Networks, which complicated the chances of a crossover during the series' original runs despite audience interest. Amazon owning both would remedy this issue for the reboots, bringing audiences the ideal White Collar and Leverage crossover they have been waiting for as both stories unfold.

This Is What My Ideal White Collar & Leverage Crossover Would Look Like

White Collar's Characters Must Team Up With The Leverage Team

For me, an ideal crossover between White Collar and Leverage would allow for both the high-stakes storylines and great character moments for which both series are known for. One plot point I have seen and like is that Neal either infiltrates or combines forces with the Leverage team, either to stop their plans as they do not have all the information or to help further their overall cause. Much like any of the essential White Collar episodes, this should result in a well-executed heist, albeit one with snags, as Neal is not used to working with this type of team.

Neal and Eliot are complete antitheses to each other, so seeing how they get along or not would add to the humor of the episode.

In a similar vein, the comedic beats of both shows need to come through as Neal interacts with Leverage: Redemption'scast, especially Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane). Neal and Eliot are complete antitheses to each other, so seeing how they get along or not would add to the humor of the episode. One specific example is if the two sing a duet as both canonically sing in their original shows, creating just one more great moment for both the Leverage and White Collar reboots to capitalize on and keep the spirit of both shows alive.
