Resident Alien Season 4 Can't Ignore A New Harry Power Introduced In Season 3

Resident Alien season 3 introduced one of the most surprising abilities of Alan Tudyk's Harry Vanderspeigle, but it's unclear if season 4 will bring back the power when the show returns. As the leader of the Resident Alien cast, Tudyk has explored his irreverent character more and more as the story has progressed. As well as gradually coming to terms with developing human emotions, Harry will quite often remind audiences of his extraterrestrial origin by displaying peculiar powers. Although this is unlikely to stop Resident Alien season 3, one specific ability needs to be revisited.

Harry's original home and society are so alien that only fragments of lore have been made available to audiences. Even his native language is so complex that his real name is pretty much impossible for human mouths to pronounce. Because Tudyk mostly plays Harry in human form, it can sometimes be difficult to forget just how alien he really is - that is, when his odd behavior isn't giving it away. So, whenever he starts doing things of which humans aren't capable, those scenes are especially memorable.

Harry's Spider-Man-Esque Wall-Crawling Ability Was Very Useful In Resident Alien Season 3

Tudyk's character clings to a vertical wall like a certain superhero

Alice Wetterlund's D'arcy Bloom inserts herself into Harry's breaking-and-entering mission in Resident Alien season 3, episode 2, "The Upper Hand." While trying to gain access to a key apartment in their investigation, Harry proves out of nowhere that he's able to traverse verticle surfaces just like Marvel's iconic web-slinger. This ability prevents both of them from having to use a rope to gain entry to their target location, as all Harry has to do is then pull her up through the upper level's window.

Although this scene is arguably the first time Harry has needed to use this power, it could still have come in helpful at previous points in the show. Granted, he is quite often surrounded by human characters who don't know he is an alien, but there are also some instances where he could have pulled it off without being caught. It's not a plot hole, but it's strangely inconsistent. Hopefully, Resident Alien season 4 will bring it back and use it more steadily.

Why Resident Alien Season 4 Might Ignore Harry's Wall-Crawling Power

The Tudyk-led sci-fi dramedy doesn't tend to track the finer point of its canon

Although it is a sci-fi show, Resident Alien also makes heavy use of the comedy part of its dramedy genre label. So, there isn't always a huge amount of attention paid to the show's canon. Instead, a lot of it feels very improvisational, which is what makes certain scenes so funny. As a result, Harry will quite often display alien abilities out of nowhere and then never use them again. His wall-crawling talent in "The Upper Hand" is just one example of this, so it's very possible that Resident Alien will never again acknowledge the moment.
