In a rare national park decision last week, Rocky Mountain National Park officials announced they would be opening 2 miles of the East Shore Trail on the park’s west side to mountain bikes. The idea was first floated about 18 years ago; after Congressional study, environmental assessment, and a public comment period, the park finally made the ruling. The idea faced significant opposition, but the park noted that bikes would not interfere with other trail users.
