School Spirits Season 2 Trailer Reveals Cobra Kai Star's Body Is Being Controlled By A Different Person

The latest trailer has been revealed for School Spiritsseason 2. The Paramount+ original series began in 2023, introducing audiences to a fantasy drama world wherein a teen is caught in the afterlife trying to investigate her own mysterious disappearance. The show was created by Megan Trinrud and Nate Trinrud, who also wrote the graphic novel on which the series is based. School Spirits features a leading cast including Peyton List, Kristian Ventura, Milo Manheim, Kiara Pichardo, Spencer Macpherson, Rainbow Wedell, and Sarah Yarkin.

Now, Paramount+ has revealed the trailer for School Spirits season 2. The trailer opens with narration from Maddie, who mentions "I thought my life was over, stuck between the real world and the afterlife." After questioning whether she is really dead, she realizes that the ghost of Janet Hamilton is controlling her body. The main School Spirits team then tries to solve a series of mysteries in order to get Maddie's body back. The trailer ends with the spooky line "Maybe Janet's just the beginning."

What This Means For School Spirits Season 2

The Mystery Element Will Be Key To Season 2

This School Spirits trailer indicates that Janet Hamilton is still the main antagonist of season 2. In the first installment, it was explained that Janet was a student who died in a fire prior to the events of the show. In the dramatic School Spirits season 1 finale, Janet possesses Maddie's body, pushing out Maddie's own spirit. The School Spirits season 2 trailer proves that Maddie's spirit is not back in her own body yet, and the attempt to reverse Janet's possession may be a season-long plight.

The trailer also implies that School Spirits will lean heavily into its mystery. While there has always been a mystery element to the series, Simon, Claire, and the rest of the team are now directly in search of "answers" that they will put together from a series of clues. The trailer itself even makes reference to some classic mystery series, including Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, paying homage to the teen mystery tradition that has brought the show here.

Our Take On The School Spirits Season 2 Trailer

List Can Deliver An Interesting Performance

School Spirits season 2 could be an interesting acting challenge for List, who is tasked to act possessed by something out of her control. The former Disney Channel star is increasingly popular through her work playing Tory on Cobra Kai, and School Spirits will only increase her clout. Hopefully, List's performance and the series mysteries will have good payoffs as School Spirits releases on January 30.
