What John C. McGinley's Casting Means For The Upcoming HBO Comedy Series
It Seems Like McGinley & Lawrence Love Working Together
McGinley, Lawrence, and Tarses worked together for nine seasons of Scrubs, which ran from 2001 to 2010 and is one of the most critically acclaimed sitcoms of all time. Currently, the mediacal showhas an impressive score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. McGinley played Perry Cox, the Chief of Medicine at New Sacred Heart Hospital, a pivotal role within the series. Even though he could be tough at times, Perry was a mentor to J.D., and also taught valuable lessons to several other interns throughout Scrubs' run.
Three years after Scrubs concluded, McGinley also worked with Lawrence on the sitcom Ground Floor.
It's interesting that the new show is set on a college campus, since Perry actually started working as a university professor at the end of Scrubs. Since McGinley was a main character in all nine seasons, it is clear that he had a great working relationship with both Lawrence and Tarses. Three years after Scrubs concluded, McGinley also worked with Lawrence on the sitcom Ground Floor. This HBO comedy series will mark their third collaboration together; by this point, they are likely very well-versed in how the other operates, making for a fruitful collaboration that can help this project succeed.
