Shonen Jump Launches First New Series of 2025, and They Already show Serious Promise

Almost one month into 2025, Weekly Shonen Jump has just announced that it will be debuting two new series to kick off the year, and they already show incredible promise even with the little information fans have access to. With the conclusion of Undead Unluck this week and two of their biggest series ending last year, there is a lot riding for these upcoming manga to become hits.

Shonen Jump has confirmed that two new series will be making their appearance in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #10. The first one is a sports manga Embers, written by Kurumazagi Kei and illustrated by Nishi Sotaro, someone who has already made a name for themselves in the manga world. The second is called B No Seisen by Morihiro Hayashi, an accomplished mangaka with works under his belt.

Interestingly, there is no synopsis or information hinting at what B No Seisen could be about, and all that was revealed was an illustration of a gloomy black-haired character holding a notebook. However, due to the creator's experience, there is some excitement for the manga.

One the other hand, Embers is what has many fans buzzing. It is a sports manga about a strong delinquent named Haitani who gets introduced to the world of football. The plot is reminiscent of the iconic Slam Dunk, and with football manga like Blue Lock and Ao Ashi being more popular than ever, it is no wonder there is so much excitement for this series.

While the writer of Embers is unknown and has no previous known works, the artist is extremely talented and has experience making sports manga. Winning an award for being the best newcomer with the handball manga Heat Conduction, Sotaro showed his artistic prowess and dynamic art with this one-shot. He did it again with a parkour manga, Freerun Freaks, and as expected, it looked great. If there's one thing to expect from Embers, it will be that the art and the choreography will be nothing short of amazing given Sotaro's experience with manga that are high-octane and intense.

Hayashi's work in the manga world dates all the way back to 2016 when they won an award for Nani demo kai masu. Then in 2018, they debuted in the Shonen Jump+ app with GO BACK HOME, a manga about a kidnapper and his victim who wants to kill him. In 2019, they released a one-shot titled After School Comedians, LIFE LIAR FROM HELL a year later, and How to Keep Fairies the same year. And now the veteran manga is coming back for weekly manga next week, and from the title, it seems like it will be a sci-fi series.

With a few left until Weekly Shonen Jump issue #10 is released, there is excitement for these two promising manga that have the potential to become hits. The ending of Undead Unluck marked the end of the current Shonen Jump manga that began before 2020, and hopefully, these two stand out and garner a loyal fanbase now that all the big hitters are done.
