Shoresy Season 4 Ending Explained: Does Shoresy Finally Close On Laura Mohr?
Season 4 of Shoresy brought plenty of the laughs that the show is known for, but definitely explored new territory as it examined what Shoresy does with his life after hockey. After being forced into retirement after a series of vicious concussions at the end of season 3, Jared Keeso's foul-mouthed former captain of the fictional Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs attempted to find his next calling, beginning with a brief stint as a hockey analyst for BROdude. However, that potential career path was short-lived, as Shoresy's lack of passion for it and a number of ill-advised cohosts made it a mess.
What really stoked Shoresy's passion was an opportunity for him and the other Bulldogs that remained in Sudbury to mentor promising young hockey players in the area as "Blueberry Buddies". While Dolo, Goody, and Hitch all got tangled up with their buddies' moms, Shoresy leaned into teaching one of the boys, Jack, how to get a girl out of his league, just as Shoresy was attempting to do with Laura Mohr. As that was happening, Miig and Ziig were working to get the Bulldogs into Weird Sudbury, a secretive rave/orgy/party, as a reward for keeping their noses clean.
All the while, the Jims went rogue after feeling left out of the Bulldogs' NOSHO cup celebrations. While Dolo, Goody, and Hitch all spent the summer tubing with the impossible number of good-looking girls in Sudbury, the Jims felt big-timed by their teammates, and broke teammate protocol in an effort to take revenge. With the eminently quotable Shoresy caught in the middle, he found a way to bridge the gap between the two sides and reunite the Bulldogs, which was another important step to him realizing what he was meant to do in life after hockey.

Comedian Jared Keeso has been responsible for two wildly popular and stunningly acclaimed off-beat comedies, but which is the better show?
Why Shoresy Finally Agrees To Coach The Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs & What It Means For Season 5
Shoresy Finally Found A Reason To Coach The Bulldogs
Season 3 ended with Nat (Tasya Teles) offering Shoresy the opportunity to coach the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs. Throughout most of season 4, Shoresy is completely against taking on that role, believing that not only would it not "scratch the itch" of his dependence on hockey, but it would be actively painful for him to be that close to it without being able to impact the game himself. He finally gives in and accepts Nat's offer to coach in the final episode of season 4, which was built up to across the entire season.

Multiple times in season 4, characters tell Shoresy to "go where you're needed", which is a pretty solid way of articulating the hockey player mentality that is at the very core of Shoresy. When injured and suspended in season 3, Shoresy found ways to "contribute" both on and off the ice, because that's what a hockey player is meant to do: help the team, with no concern about his own well-being. He came to realize that the best thing he could do to help the Bulldogs was to step in as coach; that's where he was truly needed now that he couldn't play anymore.
There are telltale signs of how good a coach he would be the entire season, whether he's teaching Jack how to put himself out there to impress a girl he likes or reuniting the Jims and the Bulldogs with a shootaround at the rink. His crowning moment was his motivational speech to the Laker players that the Bulldogs mentored; after inspiring them with a fiery monologue, they literally verbalized how great a coach he would make. Shoresy's passion for playing hockey the right way, and living your life the exact same way, is what makes him a perfect hockey coach.
Why Laura Mohr Finally Starts Dating Shoresy In Season 4's Ending
Shoresy Wore Her Down, But Proved Himself
Shoresy has been working on Laura Mohr since the very beginning of Shoresy, using his best pickup lines and most charming toothless smile to erode the guard that she has up as a single, divorced mother unwilling to jump in with someone uncommitted. He finally manages to "close Laura Mohr" in the final episode of season 4, after literally running a marathon after she flippantly made it a requirement of them getting together during one of his trademark unannounced drop-bys earlier in the summer. She invited him to stay for a "sleepover", and all that that implies.
Laura Mohr knows full well that for as goofy as he is, Shoresy is a good person who would treat her well.
Laura challenged Shoresy to prove that he was committed to her over the summer so that she knew he was really and truly serious about being with her for the long haul. Shoresy not only turned down offers from other women, he secretly took care of her lawn and did other small things for her. He threw a final Hail Mary by running the distance of an actual marathon, and recruiting his Lakers to deliver a letter to Laura stating his intent.
The sheer levels to which Shoresy went to demonstrate the level of his commitment to her were above and beyond what she expected. It wasn't so much a wearing-down process as it was her hesitating to commit herself; she knows full well that for as goofy as he is, Shoresy is a good person who would treat her well, but she wasn't necessarily ready to take a leap yet. Shoresy's ridiculous demonstration with the marathon/hand-delivered letter burst the bubble, as she realized she could commit to someone who cares that much.
Why Dolo, Goody & Hitch Decide Not To Go To Weird Sudbury
The Trio Remember What It Means To Be Teammates
If you peel away all the jokes, hockey slang, and Sudbury Kids Sports Reports, Shoresy is a representation of the concept that hockey imitates life; that is, the things that make you a good hockey player make you a good person. Selflessness, hard work, commitment to others, and toughness in the face of all adversity are what breed success on and off the ice. Being a good teammate comes first and foremost in hockey, and in season 4 it became clear that Dolo, Goody, and Hitch had forgotten that in the pursuit of their own pleasures.

Letterkenny Spinoff Shoresy Renewed For Season 5
The ongoing Letterkenny spinoff Shoresy has been renewed for season 5 ahead of the sports comedy show's season 4 premiere later this year.
Weird Sudbury was the apex of their raunchy, sex-filled summer of celebration, and given the extreme exclusivity of the secretive party, by definition they couldn't go as a team. Just as they had done in the summer when filling up their boat with girls on the lake, they worried about themselves when it came to securing an invitation to Weird Sudbury. They even got a reminder that hockey players are supposed to worry about the team when Michaels was not allowed into the party, and Shoresy stayed behind with him.
By choosing to go to the Blueberry Festival Dance instead of Weird Sudbury, the three Bulldogs finally realized what was most important, even in the offseason: you don't leave your teammates behind. It's a full-circle moment for the players, who have been wrapped up in their own sexual exploits since season 2. Just as Shoresy learned where he was needed, Dolo, Goody, and Hitch recognized that they were wrong to put themselves ahead of the team, even if it wasn't hockey season.
Will The Lakers Be Back In Shoresy Season 5?
One Of Season 4's Most Entertaining Subplots Involved Younger Hockey Players
The Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs' younger counterparts were an interesting addition for season 4, as they provided new characters to care about, and introduced a new dynamic for the existing cast members. As mentors, each character experienced a bit of growth, and the speaking roles of Dolo, Goody, and Hitch all expanded pretty significantly in season 4. It was a successful experiment that season 3 teased a bit, as Shoresy teamed up with the players he typically torments as a ref, Liam and Cory.
It remains to be seen if the Lakers return for season 5 as they may not have a role, with the show presumably moving back into hockey season and how it progresses with Shoresy as the coach. The season ended on a strong note with their characters, as Jack finally asked his crush to dance with him after thoroughly embarrassing himself for her entertainment. The joyful dance scene with all the cast acted as a really nice exclamation point to the Lakers' arc, if that was indeed the last that is seen of them.
The Real Meaning Of The Jims' Story & Payback In Shoresy Season 4 Explained
No Member Of The Bulldogs Is At Their Best When They're Not Playing Hockey
The entirety of season 4 takes place outside of hockey season, a first for Shoresy. As a result, the audience gets new sides to the characters that they've come to know and love, including the typically quiet Jims. Abandoned at the dock by their teammates during the summer, the Jims felt "big-timed" and had their feelings very hurt. As a result they told the girlfriends of Dolo, Goody, and Hitch that the three Bulldogs had been sleeping with their buddies' moms as well.
All three Jims are former pro hockey players, as Brandon Nolan and Jordan Nolan both played in the NHL (Jordan Nolan is a three-time Stanley Cup champion) and Jon Mirasty was a mainstay of the WHL, KHL, and AHL in the 1990s and 2000s.
Eventually, they try to cover their tracks and claim they were lying the first time around, but that leads to them sleeping with the moms instead, effectively killing the beef once they hash it out in the locker room's "kangaroo court" with Shoresy as the "bailer". The Jims are justifiably hurt by their teammates, who again acted selfishly in the pursuit of their own pleasure, and took their own form of revenge in a "two wrongs don't make a right" situation. Each member of the Bulldogs needed to be reminded of the aforementioned notion that hockey imitates life.
It's stated in Shoresythat hockey players are at their best when they're playing hockey, which is why Shoresy has them all get on the ice to reunify after the incident. They remember the values that matter, and are able to put everything behind them as a result. It's a key part of why Shoresy ends up as a coach, and why he'll make such a good one; whenever everyone else forgets the unwritten rules of hockey, Shoresy is there to remind them. He never forgets the important values that make one a good hockey player and a good person.
