Should You Pull For Mavuika Or Citlali In Genshin Impact 5.3
Genshin Impact's 5.4 update is a huge point for new characters, but which of these additions are worth pulling for? Though Genshin may seem like the old dog of HoYoverse, given the immense success of Star Rail and the growing popularity of Zenless Zone Zero, it is still quite the force. The latter two have served as excellent in-house competition for the long-running adventure game, bringing many of their quality-of-life improvements to Genshin.
Overall, the 5.0 updates have been a bit of a roller-coaster for Genshin. The Natlan story has been inconsistent at times and has introduced a handful of characters that haven't felt as impactful as most regions do. The exceptions to this before 5.4 would be Mualani and her best builds as a DPS and Xilonen as a resistance shredder. Luckily, it seems Mavuiki and Citlali will be turning this trend around.
Mavuika & Citlali Appear In Genshin Impact 5.3 Banners Until January 21
Likely To Return Soon
Though controversial, given that the Lantern Rite is taking place after, Maviuka and Citlali will be available until January 21. This does make it a hard choice when trying to decide which character to pick for free-to-play users, as getting both without a lot of luck or saving will be tricky. It is also a slight annoyance even if you're willing to pay, as it puts much of the cost in the forefront instead of spacing it out and being able to recoup some pulls.
Luckily, given that both of them are important characters and appear early in the Natlan updates, they will likely get a re-run before 6.0. Mavuika is almost a certainty here, as Archons are some of the best-selling banners, and given her power, hers will come sooner rather than later. Citlali is a harder case. While she is a strong character, there has been a common trend in Cryo characters being left without reruns for long periods, as this element has largely fallen to the wayside.
Pros & Cons Of Pulling For Mavuika In Genshin Impact 5.3
Role: Main/Sub DPS
Mavuika and her best builds are practically a must-pull for accounts at any level. She excels at being a Main DPS for Melt/Vaporize team or filling in as a Sub DPS. The latter point is especially helpful, as Pyro does not have many characters who can fill this role sufficiently. The only character that did fill this role was Xiangling, and while she is easy to acquire and build, she does not have the same damage levels as Mavuika.
The only tricky thing about Mavuika is she loses some of her strength in teams that do not have multiple Natlan characters. This is because her ultimate is charged by using Nightsoul points, so characters like Xilonen, Citlali, or Mualani if Mavuika is used as a Sub DPS, are crucial. In this regard, if you don't have any Natlan characters, you're likely to struggle to fully utilize Mavuika. However, she is still a great pull for future investments, and incredibly strong if other Natlan characters are available.
Pros & Cons Of Pulling For Citlali In Genshin Impact 5.3
Role: Cyro Support/Shielder
Citlali is a weird case for multiple reasons. Her kit is extremely beneficial, granting a healthy shield and shredding enemy Pyro and Hydro resistance. However, her downside is the niche number of teams she fits into, which can affect the value of pulling for her. In this regard, if you want to have a perfect Mavuika team or add a boost to Melt teams like Arlecchino, then Citlali is worth it.
Citlali's resistance shred will trigger whenever a Melt or Frozen reaction occurs.
Without these teams, usage of Citlali and her best builds would fall drastically. Unfortunately, Cryo has become the forgotten element of Genshin since Dendro came out. The icy element has no synergy with Dendro, and its other synergies haven't seen any characters worth having them for until Mavuika. However, given that both these characters are released at the same time, it makes it tricky for the majority of players to acquire both at the same time.
Overall, 5.4 is one of the best updates for adding strong characters, but it creates a weird situation where the two almost need each other to have the most success. This is great if you've stocked up on pulls or have the money to spend, but it creates an immensely tricky situation if you're not in one of those two groups. Regardless, if the situation allows it, Genshin Impact's Mavuika and Citlali are both worth pulling for the great value they add to accounts.
