Group: AMC Boston

When: Thursday, April 26, 6-9 pm

Where: Goodyear Ave., MA

Cost: Free (registration required)

Details: Need to break in some new boots or other gear? Has it been a while since you had a pack on your back? Want to see where your fitness level is at going into Spring/Summer hiking? Join the leaders for this conditioning hike series in Middlesex Fells. Meet at the eastern edge of the Cross Fells Trail (Gate 58) at 6PM (directions below). We’ll hike variations of the Rock Circuit and surrounding trails in the eastern section of the Fells. We’ll plan to hike until dark (bring a headlamp) at a moderate pace to get our heart rates up. Never explored the eastern part of the Fells? It boasts a waterfall (yes a waterfall in the Fells), nice up-and-down rock scrambles for stretching legs and testing boot grip, fantastic views of Boston, and the remains of the 1899 MIT Geodetic Observatory. It’s a hidden gem with variable terrain accessible by public transit. These are ‘show and go’ hikes that do not require registration. That said, help us manage hike size expectations and register for the hike if you can. This is part of a 5-hike series (Thurs April 26, Weds May 2, Thurs May 10, Thurs May 17, Thurs May 24). Show up for one or multiple hikes in the series. Your choice.
