Solo Leveling Finally Changes Jinwoo's Status, Giving Him the Recognition He Deserves
Warning: Contains spoilers for Solo Leveling Episode #16Solo Leveling season two has been progressing through its source material at a rapid pace, and the most recent episode #16, titled "I Need to Stop Faking", marks a major turning point for the series' protagonist, Sung Jinwoo. Picking up directly where the previous episode left off, Jinwoo exits the Demon Castle dungeon at floor 75 and realizes he can no longer fake his strength. Before progressing any further, he decides to have his rank reassessed.
Given the endless fighting and constant leveling up Jinwoo has enjoyed since initially inheriting his new powers, it shouldn't come as a shock to fans that the once E-Rank hunter has far surpassed his previous status. What might surprise viewers, however, is that Jinwoo has already reached S-Rank strength and ability. While his improvement over the course of the series has been swift, already reaching the top rank of hunters is an impressive feat, and one that will drastically change the protagonist's life going forward.
Sung Jinwoo Becomes the Tenth S-Rank Hunter in the Country
It Didn't Take Long for Solo Leveling's Main Character to Reach the Top Rank
Since receiving his new abilities, Sung Jinwoo hasn't faced many challenges. The greatest thus far, which involved facing off with the Blood-Red Commander Igris, ended in a victory which saw Jinwoo's strongest opponent yet become the newest member of his team. After his job-change quest and the addition of his very own shadow army, Solo Leveling's protagonist has done little more than level-up and completely overpower his opposition. It's clear that he has drastically improved, but Jinwoo's new rank might come as a surprise to some.
Scoring so highly during the reassessment that the computers couldn't even measure him, Sung Jinwoo has officially grown from an E-Rank hunter to S-Rank, the highest level the anime has seen yet. It didn't take long for him to reach the pinnacle of strength, nor did it require much effort following the acquisition of his shadow army. Alongside a shiny new rank, though, will come challenges that strength alone will not be enough to overcome.
Everything Is About to Change for Solo Leveling's Protagonist
Sung Jinwoo Will No Longer Be Able to Operate in the Shadows
As soon as the news of Sung Jinwoo becoming only the tenth S-Rank hunter in the country reaches the public, his life will forever change. Not only will the general population turn him into a celebrity, but other hunters will have their growing suspicions about Jinwoo confirmed. Enjoying his freedom to operate with anonymity, the series' main character will now have guilds and other S-Rank hunters following his every move. Not only will he lose the ability to operate in the shadows, the nature of his overpowered abilities is sure to come into question.
Solo Leveling's second season is reportedly set to cover the full events of the Jeju Island arc, and has shown no signs of slowing its breakneck pace. Next week's episode will likely cover Jinwoo's return to the Demon Castle, and will put his official S-Rank abilities to the test. The series has continued to impress with impossibly high quality visuals, and fans won't want to miss a moment of Sung Jinwoo's never-ending progress.
