What Happened in Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode #8?
Jinwoo Fights Baran the Demon Monarch
In episode #20 of Solo Leveling, Jinwoo meets a demon noble from the Radiru Clan named Esil, who gives him the entry permit to advance from the 85th, and he later turns into his guide to quickly find the entrance to the top floors. This meeting also continues to build the mystery of the system, as it is revealed that the demons were put in the demon castle by someone who still manipulates them to not reveal anything to Jinwoo. Later, Jinwoo quickly ascends and reaches the top of the Demon Castle, where he encounters the final dungeon boss, the Demon Monarch Baran.
Baran arrives in his white dragon and is also able to summon an army that fights Jinwoo’s shadow soldiers. Moreover, Baran was on a whole different level from the previous enemies Jinwoo had faced. This way, Baran gives Jinwoo a real challenge, as he struggles almost to the point of defeat. Yet Jinwoo was able to take down the wyvern thanks to Tusk and Igris’ support and later defeat Baran, clearing the Demon Castle and being ready to collect the rewards that he so long hoped to obtain for his mother’s sake.
What Will Happen in Solo Leveling Season Two, Episode #9?
The Upcoming Episode Teases an Emotional Moment for Sung Jinwoo
As revealed on the series’ official website, the upcoming episode #21 of Solo Leveling will finally reveal if the Holy Water of Life will cure Jinwoo’s mother from her illness, the Eternal Slumber. This development proved to be a pivotal moment for Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling Season, as all his recent actions have been motivated for this reason, so if his mother is finally cured, it promises to be the most emotional episode in the anime so far.
After completing the strategy for the "Demon's Castle" and taking the "Holy Water of Life" with him, Jinwoo heads to his mother's hospital room and finally gets his true reward. However, he is plagued by the fear that he may have entered a territory he should not have set foot in.
Meanwhile, Jinwoo is eager to participate in a raid to recapture Jeju Island. It's a golden opportunity to level up, but all that comes to his mind are the images of his mother and sister.
Moreover, in Solo Leveling episode #7, Jinho’s father was revealed to have also been suffering the early effects of the disease, so fans could anticipate that the upcoming episode will delve into what this represents for Jinwoo’s friend. Additionally, the latest episode showcases the planning of the Jeju Island Raid, where all the S-Rank hunters of the country are bound to participate alongside the Japanese hunters, so the episode should feature if Jinwoo accepts to collaborate in defeating the ant threat. Nevertheless, fans should prepare for the start of the Jeju Island Arc, considered one of the best story arcs in the series.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Saves for Later a Major Character Introduction
The Anime Skips a Scene That Builds up the S-Rank Hunter Hwan Dongsoo
Similar to how Solo Leveling Season 2 episode #6 skipped over the introduction of Yoo Soohyun, Jinho’s cousin, who appears in chapter #72 of the manhwa and will have a role later in the story, the latest episode also cut the first appearance of one of the strongest hunters in the series. In episode #19, the anime purposely left out the mention of the National Level Hunters, who are named for the first time in Solo Leveling chapter #78.

Solo Leveling Is the World's Biggest Anime Right Now, And a New Report Proves It
Solo Leveling has been topping international streaming services, but a recent achievement proves it's getting even bigger than its first season.
Because of this, the appearance of an American National Level Hunter who is related to Hwan Dongsoo was also cut from Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode #8. Moreover, the anime also skipped a conversation between Jinchul and the Chairman Goo Gunhee where they were discussing that Hwan Dongsoo expressed he wanted to take part in the Jeju Raid so he could meet Jinwoo, but fearing his real intentions, the Hunter Association denied his entry to the country. While this scene could be rearranged for later, it is also possible that the adaptation chose to avoid foreshadowing future story arcs of Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Makes a Stellar Improvement in Jinwoo's Fight Against Baran
The Anime Enhances an Already Incredible Battle with an Added Scene
Even though in Solo Leveling’s Manhwa chapter #86, the white wyvern of Baran Kaisellin falls due to Tusk's Fire attack, in the anime, this serves more as a distraction while Igris beheaded the dragon, which caused Baran to fall. This resulted in a much more memorable moment that also gave participation to Igris, who is one of Jinwoo’s best shadow soldiers. Likewise, the anime went a step beyond the manhwa, adding an original scene during Jinwoo’s finishing attack.
Baran tries to launch a lightning breath after his arms get cut, but following Jinwoo’s uppercut punch, this energy blows inside his body, creating a visually striking explosion. This way, the adaptation did a great job conveying the fast-paced, gripping, and intense tension of Jinwoo vs. Baran, becoming one of the best anime fights in recent years. This means expectations should only increase as the story reaches its most impactful battle, so fans should tune in to Solo Leveling Season 2 episode 9 to know what Jinwoo will do next.
