As Southern California Search & Rescue teams respond to a growing number of incidents across the region in recent years, some officials blame social media posts for the uptick. They argue that some areas with frequent rescue incidents tend to be more popular on Instagram, Facebook, and other outlets. Other experts argue that social media alone don’t cause an increase in risk-taking behaviors.
