Spider-Verse vs Venomverse Announced, Setting Up Marvel's New Long-Awaited War

The wait is finally over for Marvel fans, now that the upcoming Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse comic event is officially announced, promising war between Spider-heroes and Symbiotes the likes of which fans have only dreamed of. Fans will get to see brand-new versions of both Spider-Man and Venom facing off against each other as these two massive multiverses collide.

Teased by Marvel as a battle for "the fate of the Marvel Multiverse," the event is said to be spinning out the Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood storyline as well as Web of Venomverse: Fresh Brains. Uniting the creative team of Kyle Higgins, Mat Groom, and Luciano Vecchio, the first plot synopsis and cover art for this collision of Spider-Man and Venom's larger lore promise big things for the five-issue limited comic book series launching in May.

Meet the newest Web-Head Spider-Prowler as well as the mysterious symbiote Yaleo as this savage battle risks their extinction!

This major crossover promises to introduce brand-new versions of iconic characters that fans haven't seen before, such as a version of Miles Morales who became the Prowler, or the strange new symbiote Yaleo.

The Spider-Verse Has Introduced A Universe of Amazing New Spider-Men

While Marvel's Venomverse Contains The Multiverse's Most Dangerous Symbiotes

Alongside the first official details and artwork, writer Mat Groom shares the excitement and long-awaited spectacle that the crossover event is finally making a reality:

“When Dan Slott and Olivier Copiel launched the SPIDER-VERSE in 2014, it transformed the Spider-Man mythos and completely took over the world. Since then, creators like Donny Cates, Al Ewing and Ram V have transformed the Venom mythos in a way that is arguably just as vital and transformative. Crashing these worlds together is a genuine honor and a privilege— and it gives us an opportunity to push both sides to the breaking point, so we can all discover whether the Spider and Symbiote communities hold strong against the oncoming storm... or if they crack under the pressure!”

The appeal of this series is obvious, with Marvel's Multiverse most beloved for its ability to explore alternate versions of characters. The Spider-Verse has taken this to the absolute limit, introducing a version of Spider-Man who was part of Weapon X, and turning beloved characters like Gwen Stacy into the iconic Ghost-Spider. At the same time, Venom has been a villain and an anti-hero, but across the Venomverse he has been so much more. Dinosaur versions of Venom, futuristic reimaginings, and even a Black Panther Venom, to name a few.

The Spiderverse has been destroyed and recreated several times already, and the Venomverse has been equally caught up in major battles. These fights have always been against external forces, but now they will be facing each other head-on, with the Spider-Verse desperately wanting to protect the Web-Heart, and the Venomverse needing to keep the Hive-Mind alive. With the Venom symbiotes penchant for merging with Spider-related characters, it's possible that this is one fight that Spider-Man and his variants aren't going to win.

Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse begins in May 2025 from Marvel Comics.

Spider-Man is the name given to several individuals who have employed a spider-moniker throughout Marvel Comics. HISTORY
The Venom symbiote is an alien organism that first bonded with Peter Parker (Spider-Man) during the "Secret Wars" storyline. After Parker rejected the symbiote, it found a new host in Eddie Brock, a disgraced journalist. The symbiote and Brock bonded over their mutual hatred for Spider-Man, becoming the anti-hero known as Venom. Over time, Venom has evolved from a villain to an anti-hero, often fighting alongside other heroes to protect innocents, though his methods remain brutal.

Venom is a symbiotic alien entity bonded with various human hosts, notably Eddie Brock and later Flash Thompson. It grants superhuman strength, agility, and a shape-shifting black costume. Initially a Spider-Man villain due to its origins, Venom evolved into an antihero, battling both villains and his own dark impulses. The character embodies themes of duality and redemption within the Marvel Universe.
