Star Wars Actor Daisy Ridley Is Ready To Join The MCU Or DCU
The Marvel Cinematic Universe or the DC Universe could potentially see the addition of a massive Star Wars actor in the near future, as one of the sci-fi franchise's stars shares their interest. Hollywood is going through an interesting time right now when it comes to the superhero genre. While the MCU is getting closer to finishing The Multiverse Saga, James Gunn's DCU is just getting started over at DC Studios, as they are reimagining the world of DC superheroes across TV and film.
In a new interview with ComicBook, Daisy Ridley, who joined the Star Wars universe as Rey in the sequel trilogy, was asked if the superhero genre would be something she would like to take on as an actor down the line. As Ridley is both a fan of DC and Marvel, the British star stressed that she is open to either the DCU or the MCU, as she shared the following:
Look, I’m open to loads of stuff. I work with this amazing second AD called Matthew Sharp, and he texts me cause he’s doing Avengers, and he goes, ‘If they call.’ So I was like, ‘If they call, absolutely.’ I then of course love Batman, love The Penguin. I’m a fan of so many sorts of films. Yeah, I’m open to everything.
What Daisy Ridley's Superhero Comments Mean For The MCU & DCU
There has been a lot of commentary over the last few years about whether or not there is superhero fatigue, but Ridley sharing her interest is definitely a sign that the comic book movie genre is not something that has lost its momentum, since many consider roles in these movies a promising prospect. To this day, plenty of Hollywood actors regularly share that they would want to play a DC or Marvel role. With something like the DCU's Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" slate, there are about to be many new opportunities for actors as DC Studios will bring more characters to life.
While anything is possible, it wouldn't be shocking if Ridley ended up in the MCU timeline rather than the DCU one, given her relationship with Disney. Since Ridley is set to return as Rey in a new Star Wars movie that will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, that may also work in her favor when it comes to the MCU and make things easier while appearing in two Disney-owned franchises. However, that doesn't completely rule Ridley out from maybe joining the DCU instead of the MCU.
Our Take On Daisy Ridley's MCU & DCU Comments
With Ridley having proven herself as an incredible actress over the last few years, including her time with Star Wars, it would be incredibly exciting to see her joining the MCU or the DCU in any capacity. The bigger question, however, is whether or not Ridley would get cast as a superhero or perhaps one of DC and Marvel's famous villains. Following Ridley's comments, it will be interesting to see which franchise between the DCU and the MCU may land her first.

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
