Star Wars Turned Way More of the Skywalker Clan Into Jedi Than You Realize

The most popular “Skywalker” Jedi in Star Wars are easily the ones who starred in their own film trilogy: Anakin, Luke, and Rey. Anakin Skywalker was chronologically the first ‘Jedi Skywalker’ who kicked-off Star Wars’ Skywalker Saga, followed by Luke Skywalker (the real-world start to the Skywalker Saga), and finally Rey Skywalker, who brought the Saga to a close after defeating the Skywalkers’ ultimate enemy, Emperor Palpatine.

Anakin, Luke, and Rey are certainly the most well-known Skywalkers in Star Wars, but they are far from the only ones. Not just that, they are far from the only Skywalkers who became Jedi in the Star Wars universe. The Skywalker Clan is chock-full of Jedi, and while Anakin, Luke, and Rey cannot be ignored (indeed, they are the most well-known for a reason), it’s also important to highlight the other 'Jedi Skywalkers' who most Star Wars fans might not be as familiar with.

10 Ben Solo (Canon)

Before (& After) Becoming Kylo Ren, Ben Solo was a Jedi

Ben Solo is the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, who made his debut in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. However, upon his Star Wars debut, Ben Solo went by a different name: Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren was to the First Order what Darth Vader was to the Empire: a dark sider who kept the galaxy in check with an iron fist. But, the only reason Kylo Ren was such a powerful force of evil is due to his training as a Jedi under Luke Skywalker.

Ben Solo spent the better part of his childhood with his uncle, Luke Skywalker, where he was being trained in the ways of the Jedi. Before he was corrupted to the dark side, Ben was a fairly skilled Jedi, as he was proficient in lightsaber combat and Force abilities.

9 Leia Organa (Canon/Legends)

Princess Leia Became a Jedi After the Events of the Original Trilogy

Star Wars fans are more than familiar with Leia Organa aka Princess Leia, as she was one of the main characters of the original trilogy. However, after the events of the OT, Leia became something more than a princess, a general, or wife and mother: she became a Jedi. In canon, it’s revealed in Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker that Leia trained with her brother, Luke Skywalker, to become a Jedi. And, in Legends, it’s shown in Star Wars: Dark Empire that Leia has become a Jedi, and is even regarded as such by Emperor Palpatine.

There are also instances of Leia becoming a Force-user, including in the ‘What If?’-style comic series: Star Wars: Infinities. In one Infinities story, Darth Vader takes Leia as his Sith Apprentice, and she becomes powerful enough to battle Luke Skywalker after he becomes a Jedi Master.

8 Mara Jade (Legends)

The Wife of Luke Skywalker was a Sith-Turned-Jedi

Mara Jade was the wife of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Legends, and together, they rebuilt the Jedi Order and became an overwhelming force of good in the galaxy far, far away. But even before she met Luke, Mara Jade was a skilled Force-user, though she was not an agent of the light side of the Force. Mara Jade was what was known as ‘the Emperor’s Hand’, meaning she was his go-to ‘Sith-assassin’ (not quite a Sith Lord, but more than just a hired gun).

In fact, Mara Jade made her debut in Heir to the Empire with the mission of killing Luke Skywalker to avenge the Emperor’s death. However, after the two were forced to spend time together, Luke and Mara became close, and eventually fell in love. At that point, Mara Jade became a Skywalker, and she also became a Jedi.

7 Jaina Solo (Legends)

The Daughter of Leia & Han, Trained by Luke Skywalker

Jaina Solo was the daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa, who was trained as a Jedi by her uncle, Luke Skywalker. Jaina would play an integral role in the establishment and expansion of the New Jedi Order, especially during times of conflict. Jaina defeated Darth Caedus, she helped defeat the Yuuzhan Vong (which earned her the title: Sword of the Jedi), and she eventually became not only a Jedi Master, but a member of the High Council.

In Legends continuity, Jaina is the true heir of Luke Skywalker. She was the most powerful up-and-coming Jedi of her time, the most committed to the cause of the New Jedi Order, and an unyielding beacon for good in the galaxy.

6 Jacen Solo (Legends)

The Son of Leia & Han, Trained by Luke Skywalker

Jacen Solo was the eldest son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, who was trained as a Jedi by his uncle, Luke Skywalker alongside his sister, Jaina. Throughout his childhood, Jacen was an exemplary student (not counting the misadventures he, his sister, and some of the other Padawans would get into, of course), and he was a powerful Jedi. However, everything changed when Jacen felt the pull of the dark side, which he eventually succumbed to, becoming the evil Darth Caedus.

In many ways, Jacen’s story mirrors that of Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren, as he was a student of Luke Skywalker before falling to the dark side and becoming a powerful force of evil in the galaxy. But, just like Ben, Jacen was still a Jedi for a large part of his life.

5 Anakin Solo (Legends)

The Youngest Son of Leia & Han, Trained by Luke Skywalker

Anakin Solo was the youngest son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, who - like his siblings before him - trained to be a Jedi under his uncle, Luke Skywalker. Because of his namesake, Anakin was always worried that he’d fall to the dark side just like his grandfather, Darth Vader. However, as his story unfolded, it became increasingly clear that nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, during the war against the Yuuzhan Vong, Anakin sacrificed himself to stop villainous alien invaders, and upon doing so, he became a pure light side energy, a literal beacon of light.

Even when Anakin was an infant, he assisted in the destruction of dark entities in the galaxy, as Emperor Palpatine tried and failed to possess his body, which led to Palpatine’s ultimate demise. From his first moments in life to his last, Anakin Solo was a true Jedi.

4 Ben Skywalker (Legends)

The Son of Luke Skywalker & Mara Jade

Ben Skywalker was the only son of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade, who - like his cousins - studied to be a Jedi under his father. However, as a child during the Yuuzhan Vong War, Ben experienced overwhelming disturbances in the Force, and shut himself off from it for many years. It took the guidance of Jacen Solo to awaken his Force-sensitivity once more, though that nearly led Ben down the wrong path, as it was around this time that Jacen was beginning to fall to the dark side.

However, Ben didn’t follow Jacen down his dark path, especially after Jacen killed Ben’s mother, Mara Jade, which made Ben even more committed to the Jedi’s cause. Following the fall of Darth Caedus, Ben teamed up with his father to defeat a ‘God of Chaos’ called Abeloth, proving himself to be an immensely significant Jedi.

3 Nat Skywalker (Legends)

Direct Descendent of Luke Skywalker

Nat Skywalker (otherwise known as Rawk or “Bantha” Rawk) was a direct descendant of Ben Skywalker (and, by extension, Luke Skywalker) was an established Jedi Master during the Sith-Imperial War, which took place roughly a century after the events of the original trilogy. While he fought bravely on behalf of the Jedi Order, Nat and his family eventually went into hiding under the aforementioned name, Rawk - which actually saved their lives.

After the Sith-Imperial War, the leader of a new dark side cult known as the One Sith, Darth Krayt, led a Jedi massacre, resulting in the decimation of the New Jedi Order, and forcing any surviving Jedi to scatter across the cosmos. Rawk and his family were spared, which allowed Nat to play a role in his nephew’s life a few years later, and guide him on his Jedi path.

2 Kol Skywalker (Legends)

Nat Skywalker’s Younger Brother who Became a Member of the New Jedi Council

Kol Skywalker was the younger brother of Nat, who was not only a Jedi Master, but a member of the New Jedi High Council. Like his brother, Kol fought in the Sith-Imperial War, using his mastery of the light side of the Force to fight back the sinister forces of the dark side. However, unlike his brother, Kol kept his family name after the war, which meant his son did the same. That meant they - along with the other known Jedi - were targeted by Darth Krayt during the One Sith’s Jedi purge.

Kol Skywalker was killed during Darth Krayt’s attack, but his death wasn’t in vain. Kol sacrificed himself to give some of the youngling padawans the chance to escape, including his own son, Cade Skywalker.

1 Cade Skywalker (Legends)

Son of Kol Skywalker, Trained as a Jedi Before Becoming a Bounty Hunter/Pirate

Cade Skywalker was the son of Kol Skywalker, and a direct descendant of Luke Skywalker. He grew up in the Jedi Order, and trained all his life to become a Jedi. But, years after Darth Krayt launched an attack against his home, Cade decided to abandon his Jedi upbringing and instead pursued the life of a bounty hunter/pirate. Cade even dabbled in the dark side with the One Sith for a time. However, after Cade reunited with his uncle, Nat Skywalker aka Rawk, he decides to become a Jedi once more to defeat Darth Krayt once and for all.

Cade is technically the ‘Last Skywalker’, as his story takes place the furthest in the future of Star Wars lore. However, just because Cade is the last, doesn’t mean he’s the only fascinating Skywalker in Star Wars (other than Anakin, Luke, and Rey), as fans should know about each of these 10 Jedi Skywalkers.
