Sterling K. Brown’s New Show On Hulu Is A Thrilling Replacement Option For Fans Of This Is Us

Sterling K. Brown's newest series, Paradise, is now streaming on Hulu, and it is perfect for fans of This Is Us who want to see the star in a very different role. Brown leads Paradise's cast and is supported by great performances from James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson. The series centers on Brown's character, Secret Service agent Xavier Collins, as he attempts to unravel the mystery of the president's murder while avoiding drawing suspicion on himself.

In addition to the ongoing murder mystery, the show also features a big reveal in Paradise's episode 1 ending that changes everything. Unsurprisingly, Brown's performance and Paradise's plot and pacing have already received positive reviews, with each episode leaving audiences waiting for more. While the series has a very different basis than This Is Us, it serves as the perfect follow-up for fans of Brown's performance in the NBC show, because his talent truly shines through in the thrilling performance.

Fans Of This Is Us Should Check Out Hulu's Paradise - What The Show Is About

Sterling K. Brown Gives A Great Performance In The Murder Mystery Series

Paradise follows Xavier Collins in his search for the truth about the president's death, and the show takes a much more layered approach than it may initially seem. The series cleverly flashes back and forth between the present and a time several years prior to fill in details of the president's relationship with Collins and other Secret Service agents. While it is clear that Collins was once entirely faithful to President Bradford (James Marsden), he had become resentful of him in the intervening years.

Paradise thoughtfully unravels each character's beliefs and grievances while continuing to build the mystery and larger revelation about the characters' lives, intertwining all the different factors. Paradise also gives Brown a great character to contrast with Randall in This Is Us. While Randall can be frustrating at times, at the end of the day he loves his family. In contrast, Brown's portrayal of Collins is much more hardened and cynical, making him the perfect lead for a series that creates drama in a great but very different way from This Is Us.

Paradise Also Serves As A This Is Us Reunion

The Series Reunites Brown & This Is Us Creator Dan Fogelman

In addition to Brown's great performance in Paradise, the series also serves as a mini This Is Us reunion between the actor and the previous show's creator, Dan Fogelman. Both This Is Us as a whole and Brown received numerous nominations and awards throughout the series' run, so it only makes sense that Paradise has been met with praise too, as the newest partnership between Fogelman and a This Is Us star.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, the collaboration between Brown and Fogelman could even lead to more familiar faces in Paradise's episodes to come. Additionally, given the success of This Is Us and the early positive reception to Paradise season 1, there is hope for multiple seasons and a rise in popularity to match This Is Us's long-running success. Since Paradise is only at the beginning of its first season, its future is still uncertain, but its exciting plot and unexpected twist certainly make it worth the watch for This Is Us fans looking for another great Sterling K. Brown performance.

The first 3 episodes of Paradise are now streaming on Hulu, and new episodes will be released each Tuesday until March 4, 2025.
