Summary
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A will take place in the Kalos region, particularly Lumiose City
- The game features Gen 6 Pokémon in a futuristic setting, hinting at a new urban adventure
- More Pokémon announcements are expected, with many Pokémon from Gen 6 likely to be included.
The upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A will involve a new adventure in the Kalos region, particularly in Lumiose City, and features many of the familiar Pokémon who were introduced in the Pokémon X and Y games. The second in the Legends series of games, this one has a very urban and futuristic feel to it, as Lumiose City is redeveloped to be a comfortable place for people and Pokémon alike. Following the teaser that was showcased last year, we now have the first official trailer for Pokémon Legends Z-A from Pokémon Day 2025 Presents.
Planned for a late 2025 release, Pokémon Legends: Z-A appears to take a drastically different approach than Pokémon Legends: Arceus did, focusing on a single city rather than a broader area for exploration. It will also include many of the familiar characters from Pokémon's Generation 6, which were previously seen in the Pokémon X and Y titles, as well as a wide variety of Pokémon spanning different generations.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Trailer Revealed Many Gen 6 Pokémon
The Game Will Be Set In The Kalos Region
In the first trailer revealed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the video had a futuristic feel, giving partially obscured, neon glimpses of some of the Pokémon enjoying Lumiose City in the game. As Pikachu runs through the streets of the city, it passes by many recognizable shapes of other creatureswho were introduced in Gen 6 and earlier eras. Even the city itself has a distinctly futuristic Tron-like feel as viewers follow Pikachu's sprint through the area.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Will Revolutionize Battles - Here's How They Work
New details about Pokémon Legends: Z - A have been revealed and the upcoming title is expected to revolutionize the entire battle system.
Now, with the official first trailer reveal, it's clear that Lumiose City will seemingly be the only location in this game, with the entirety of the adventure taking place within it. Per the trailer shown in the 2025 Pokémon Day Presents, players will be able to explore various parts of the city, including Wild Zones, each with their own unique Pokémon that are available for catching.
This could present some interesting challenges, particularly when it comes to the number of Pokémon that will be able to be discovered and caught during the story. That being said, Pokémon X and Y have some of the largest regional Pokédexes in the series, and Legends Arceus had a solid Pokédex as well, meaning there's still hope for a wide variety of Pokémon.

Pokémon Confirmed In Legends: Z-A's Trailer
In the teaser and official trailer, some of the Pokémon shown are at various stages of their evolution, which suggests the the earlier and later counterparts will make appearances as well. Until they are confirmed, though, they will not be included in this list. This will strictly consist of Pokémon that were shown, in the evolution stage they were shown, and nothing more. Additionally, due to the teaser's method of obscuring the appearances of the pocket monsters, this list includes the best assumptions made about the silhouettes in addition to the ones clearly presented in the Pokémon Day 2025 Trailer.

In the previous Pokémon Legends: Arceus, all 28 of the alphabet Pokémon were visible throughout the game and could make a return appearance for Legends: Z-A, possibly even being the reason behind the cryptic name. Just as Arceus is a Pokémon who became the titular character of Legends: Arceus, the unique alphabet of the Unown Pokémon could be represented in the title of Z-A.
