The 20 Contestants Who Spent The Longest Time On Alone Ranked

First premiering on the History Channel in 2015, Alone has since become one of the network's most exciting shows, as each season sees a number of contestants competing to see who can spend the longest time on the show, braving the elements and starvation along the way. Across 11 seasons of Alone so far, competitors have faced starvation, isolation, illness, and serious injuries in hopes of lasting long enough to take home $500,000, but there can only be one winner each season, as they prove they can endure the most.

Alone is one of the most brutal survival reality shows around, but that is what makes it so compelling. Resilience and the ability to adapt are requirements for making it far into the competition, but not many have been able to make it through, as Alone allows contestants to tap out for any reason if they decide they do not want to continue. Despite many failing to last very long, there have been some incredibly impressive contestants over the course of the series.

Season 3 proved to be one of the most intense seasons of Alone, as the contestants were left to fend for themselves in the Patagonia, Argentina wilderness, with limited food sources compared to prior seasons. Despite the harsh conditions, Callie North proved to be a fierce competitor, lasting 72 days before she officially tapped out, due to her feeling like she had completed her journey and found closure within herself and the land.

Callie North had one final amazing meal before she decided to tap out, one of the most shocking moments in Alone history.

It was a shocking surprise to anyone watching, as Callie looked to be one of the favorites as the season began its push towards the end. Her resourcefulness and ability to craft unique items helped elevate her among many of the other competitors in season 3, and she even toughed it out after severe spider bites that almost forced her out of the competition earlier than expected. All in all, Callie North's departure was a major shake-up in season 3.

Season 6 of Alone was quite cold, taking place in the Northwest area of Canada, along the shore of Great Slave Lake. By the end of the season, three contestants had a great chance at surviving the longest, but Nathan Donnelly fell just short of becoming the winner, tapping out after 72 days due to a fire burning down his shelter in the frigid winter. He couldn't continue after losing such an essential resource to survive on the show.

From Lopez Island, Washington, Nathan proved himself to be resourceful during his time on Alone, as he worked as a disaster preparedness instructor prior to competing. He showed great ingenuity throughout his 72 days, using heated rocks for more warmth, and was the only contestant to make it as far as he did without a fire-starting device. It's unclear whether he would have truly outlasted the others if his shelter hadn't burned down, but he was a formidable competitor.

18 Dave Nessia (Season 3)

Lasted 73 Days

Five contestants survived for over 70 days in Alone season 3, easily making it one of the most competitive seasons in the entire series. One of those contestants was Dave Nessia, who was unfortunately forced to bow out of the season after 73 days, due to low systolic pressure and losing too much weight. His shelter was full of food, but Dave was seemingly unaware that he had lost so much weight and his physical condition was as poor as it was.

After Alone season 7 changed the rules to allow multiple winners if they were able to survive for 100 days, season 8 returned the series to its traditional rules, with competitors trying to outlast their competition with no target days needed to officially win. The season was set along Chilko Lake in British Columbia, a glacial lake and the highest elevation of any Alone season. Biko Wright was so close to outlasting the competition but fell just short at 73 days, after having to tap out due to starvation and heart palpitations.

Biko Wright is the vocalist for the metal band Sirion, a much different type of competitor than most featured on Alone.

Biko was an interesting contestant on Alone, working as a construction worker and lead singer in a band prior to his time on the show. He is from Otis, Oregon, but grew up in the mountains of Topanga Canyon, California. Biko struggled with fishing, but he kept a positive attitude throughout nearly all of his time on the show. He was able to forge his own crude knife while lasting a long time on a limited amount of food.

16 Woniya Thibeault (Season 6)

Lasted 73 Days

Season 6 of Alone ended up being a close competition between several competitors, with their resourcefulness towards catching fish being one of the biggest contributing factors to success that season. For Woniya Thibeault, she proved to be one of the best competitors of the season, making it up to 73 days before she finally had to tap out due to starvation, a common problem faced by contestants in Alone.

Working as an ancestral skills teacher from Grass Valley, California, Woniya was a gentle but strong and resilient competitor, who used her resourcefulness to make it as far as she did. She became a fan favorite due to her sweet disposition and her skills at making an impressive shelter, which was a major benefit for her once the season began to get more and more difficult to survive.

Alone season 4 is arguably the most unique of the series, as it was the first and only time that contestants were not actually alone, paired up as family members, such as brother/brother, father/son, or husband/wife. This changed the dynamic greatly, but only two pairs ever really seemed like they would make it to the end. One of those pairings was father and son Pete and Sam Brockdorff, who tapped out after 74 days, deciding that the cost of the game wasn't actually worth it in the end.

It was heartwarming to see the two of them interact, always being patient and understanding of the other.

Pete and Sam proved to be truly resilient competitors, who leaned on each other when they felt like they couldn't go on any longer. It was heartwarming to see the two of them interact, always being patient and understanding of the other. When Pete developed severe gastric pain, they decided together that they were ready to leave the competition behind.

14 Clay Hayes (Season 8)

Lasted 74 Days

Season 8 ended up being incredibly close by the end, as there were two contestants that rose above the rest towards the end, and it was a toss-up as to who would actually become the winner. After Biko Wright was forced to tap out due to starvation and heart palpitations, it was Clay Hayes who ended up taking home the winnings, lasting for 74 days during his season of Alone, an impressive feat due to the tough conditions they faced throughout.

A professional bowyer and hunter from Milton, Florida, Clay Hayes proved to be a force to be reckoned with during his time on the show, becoming the only contestant to kill a deer before eating its heart right away, facing down a grizzly bear, and tracking down a mountain lion. He was incredibly resilient and resourceful, with one of the survival items he brought with him being a bow he specifically made for his time on the show.

Season 9 of Alone was one of the harshest survival settings in the entire series, placing the contestants in the northern Labrador area of eastern Canada, where it was wet, freezing, and snowy, with varied terrain that proved difficult to navigate. Because of this, only two contestants lasted over 70 days, with either one seeming like they could win. Unfortunately for Karie Lee Knoke, she fell just short, having to tap out after 75 days due to starvation and exhaustion.

Working as a wilderness and primitive skills instructor in Sandpoint, Idaho, Karie Lee Knoke was spectacular during her time on Alone, proving her resourcefulness and determination to win, and it was heartbreaking to see her having to tap out when she did. Still, she became a fan favorite in her season, and her positive attitude was a major factor for that, never really losing sight of what she was trying to accomplish.

12 Ted And Jim Baird (Season 4)

Lasted 75 Days

While Alone season 4 ended up being divisive due to changing the rules to have family pairs compete together, the two top teams competing proved just how far ahead they were compared to the competition. Pete and Sam Brockdorff fell just short of winning, and it was the brother duo of Ted and Jim Baird that ended up prevailing in the end, lasting an impressive 75 days during their time on the show.

Compared to Pete and Sam, Ted and Jim Baird clashed a bit more during their time together, and they let themselves down multiple times due to not building a great shelter and not really working that well together. Against all odds, though, they were able to overcome their shortcomings to win in the end, proving they could find solutions to their problems, and were able to forage successfully for a lot of their food.

11 Jordan Jonas (Season 6)

Lasted 77 Days

Alone season 6 had some of the most resourceful contestants the series has ever seen, with a variety of competitors with different skill sets who made the best of their situation to give it their all to win. It was close to the very end of season 6, but it was Jordan Jonas who ended up walking away victorious, lasting an impressive 77 days, four days longer than the second-place competitor.

A construction worker from Lynchburg, Virginia, Jordan Jonas used the knowledge of survival he learned during his time in Siberia, where he was forced to survive harsh conditions. Despite not lasting the longest of all time on Alone, Jordan Jonas was one of the most impressive contestants, killing both an elk and a wolverine on the show, and always keeping his spirits up, finishing the game in quite good health compared to most other competitors.
