The Fantastic Four Are Making Their Way To Marvel Rivals, And Today We Got Our First Look At What's To Come In Season 1

Marvel Rivalshas announced the content coming in its first regular season, including the debut of new heroes from the Fantastic Four. The game has already met with near overnight success, becoming a critical and commercial favorite. But of course, Marvel Rivals is a live-service game, which means regular content updates to keep things interesting.

And the first of those updates has finally been revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the official Marvel Rivals account, which confirms that members of the Fantastic Four will be making their Marvel Rivals debut in a future update. The post is accompanied by art of all four members of Marvel's First Family, hovering in their bathtub-shaped Fantasticar over the New York City skyline. Although there's no release date for the update yet, the announcement promises a trailer with more information on January 6 at 8:00 AM PST/16:00 UTC.

What Players Expect From The New Heroes

As if they weren't enjoying Marvel Rivals enough already, fan reaction to the new heroes’ announcement has been overwhelmingly positive. Some players, like @PlayzLocomotive, have come to believe that all four characters will be added to Marvel Rivals at once, leaving them in disbelief. The original post never states a specific timeline for the four heroes’ release, though - that’ll probably be revealed in the new trailer.

Other alleged Marvel Rivals leaks hold that characters like Ultron, Blade, and Valkyrie will be added to the game soon.

Many players also expressed their fondness for the underappreciated Fantastic Four, lauding their new character designs. Sue Storm and The Thing are particular points of focus here, with many players expressing excitement at the prospect of playing as them, declaring they'd already found a new main. Some players pointed out that the Fantastic Four haven't had many games of their own; for fans like GSW90, in a Reddit thread discussing the announcement, this may be the first time they've played these characters in decades.

And still others noted the inclusion of HERBIE, the Fantastic Four’s robot sidekick, in the announcement art. Nothing’s been confirmed, of course, but players like @toastermrvl hoped Herbie would be playable alongside the core four.

Honestly, there's a lot we still don't know about the Fantastic Four, or whatever else is coming in the Marvel Rivals update. However, it's abundantly clear that players are already optimistic - and they have a very good reason to be.

What's Next For Marvel Rivals?

Marvel Rivals has been a massive hit, launching early last month to immediate rave reviews. It's since risen to the position of number one best-selling game on Steam, and number five most-played on the platform at the time of writing. It has its flaws, including hitbox issues and mismatched ranked games. But Marvel Rivals has gotten a warm reception from fans in general, for the simple reason that it's a lot of fun. It's already had several extensive updates, new cosmetic items, and a seasonal event in Jeff's Winter Splash.

And with more new content like heroes from the Fantastic Four on the way, the game will only keep getting better. There's so much to look forward tothis year, in the first season and beyond. All eyes will be on the new Marvel Rivals trailer on January 6 to determine when the next major updates are coming to the game.
