The Night Agent Season 2 Will Contain "All The Clues" For Where Netflix Show Goes In Season 3

The Night Agent executive producer Shawn Ryan has confirmed season 2 will contain "all the clues" regarding where the Netflix thriller show goes in season 3. The Night Agent season 2 will see Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) on his first mission as an official member of Night Action, looking into a CIA leak and looming attack in New York City. The show will bring back familiar faces like Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), who will be part of the larger story once more, alongside newcomers like Catherine (Amanda Warren), Peter's new superior.

Speaking with TV Insider, Ryan confirmed The Night Agent season 2's story is going to be laying the groundwork for the already-renewed season 3. He explained there are "loose ends" in the forthcoming episodes which will be left for the following season, without jeopardizing the contained storyline of season 2. The executive producer promised an exciting follow-up that acknowledges the events of what's to come. Check out what Ryan had to say below:

All the clues are in Season 2 for what’s set up for Season 3. Each season is a different story for us, a different world, but there will be some loose ends in Season 2 that we intend to pick up in Season 3. But we always try to tell a really satisfying story each season and not leave the audience frustrated waiting a year for a lot of answers. Most of Season 2’s questions get answered by the end of our 10 episodes and these 10 episodes tell a complete (and we hope) thrilling story.

What Ryan's Season 3 Reveal Means For The Night Agent Season 2

Not Everything Will Be Resolved In 10 Episodes This Time

Given Ryan's statement, it seems like the larger storyline of season 2 is going to be resolved by the end, but will maintain some intrigue as to how the story will continue. The Night Agent's cast is going to be largely different from before, with Peter and Rose being thrust into a new environment with unfamiliar faces and unclear allegiances. This means whatever storyline transpires in season 2, not everything will be wrapped up as neatly as the first installment. Answers about the latest conspiracy could simply conjure more questions about the show's future.

Season 1 was a major success on Netflix, quickly becoming the seventh most-watched series ever on the streaming platform. This level of dedicated viewership is proof the series might be a long-standing staple of the streamer moving forward, even as Peter and Rose are given fully original missions to embark upon. Because The Night Agent season 3 is going to be set up in season 2, it's clear there's a vision for the series as a multi-season story, instead of the standalone show season 1 maintained.

The Night Agent is based on Matthew Quirk's standalone novel of the same name.

While season 1 was the perfect standalone thriller, season 2 setting the stage for its next installment means the series can start making its stories more connected going forward. Since the Netflix show is poised to be a huge hit when it returns, having The Night Agent's future seasons more readily lead into one another is the perfect way to continue its story. With mystery surrounding both the upcoming conspiracy and where it's going to lead, it sounds like Peter and Rose have their work cut out for them as the series continues.
