"The Pain Is Worth It": Amazing Fan-Made Poppy Playtime Yarnaby Cosplay Is As Adorable As It Is Uncomfortable

The delightfully designed Yarnaby is emerging as a fan-favorite mascot character from Poppy PlaytimeChapter 4: Safe Haven, and one fan has truly nailed the character in their spectacular cosplay. The horror series by Mob Entertainment is full of enemies that are both cuddly and scary, winning many fans over with mascots that delight and terrify. Yarnaby was introduced to the game in Chapter 4, bringing another threat to the player despite resembling a shaggy lion plushie with a long mane of yarn.

Reddit user ellthekittykatexpertly recreated the game's newest mascot character with their well-made cosplay. The Redditor shared several images of themselves as Yarnaby frolicking around a convention on all fours, meeting other famous horror mascot cosplayers, and cutely mauling a Hoppy Hopscotch plushie. The awesome look of the costume comes at a price, though, as the Redditor explains the struggles of wearing this four-legged yarn-covered costume in the heat of a convention.

Poppy Playtime Yarnaby Cosplay Looks Amazing But Is Difficult To Wear

The Cosplayer Had To Take Many Breaks

Chapter 4 of Poppy Playtime came out on January 30, but this cosplayer had been working on the costume before the official release, presumably working from the Yarnaby reveal trailer. The final costume took about two months to complete, featuring a mix of 3D printing and handcrafting for a believable end result. The costume may be extremely well-made, but it was also, according to the creator, quite a struggle to wear. Like many other cosplays that look awesome but are difficult to wear, this Yarnaby costume took some maneuvering to get the fantastic photos shared by its creator.

"This Is All Your Fault": Fan-Made Poppy Playtime Comic Will Pull On Even The Toughest Player's Heart Strings

Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 truly is the darkest chapter yet, and a fan-made comic referencing one of the worst moments is a tear-jerker.

In-progress shots reveal that the head of the yarn lion is actually positioned above the cosplayer's own head, which is facing down when on all fours. This means the wearer is, in their own words, "basically [...] just staring at my beans through yarn." On top of this, the costume was very hot and had a head so heavy that it refused to stay closed. As a result, the cosplayer had to take "many breaks" and spend about an hour off the convention floor for every hour on.

Yarnaby Cosplay Nails The Playful Nature Of The New Chapter 4 Mascot

If It's Not A Friend, Why Is It Friend-Shaped?

Yarnaby, a new character introduced in the latest chapter of the game, appears deceptively adorable on the outside. The mascot resembles a lion covered in bright multicolored yarn, with huge round black eyes and a broad happy smile, giving it "friend-shaped" vibes. Until, that is, the character opens its face sideways, revealing a round maw with several sharp rows of teeth. It turns out that the character is most certainly not the players' friend in the new chapter, despite looking like a playful companion.

Despite the discomfort, the results seem worth it in the end or, as Reddit user Thomason2023 writes, "This is 'the pain is worth it' in cosplay form." The excellent cosplay manages to capture the playful but dangerous nature of the new mascot. It seems that the convention hosts thought so too, as the cosplayer won best in the Novice category, having just started making their own cosplay about two years ago. Their rendition of Yarnaby from Chapter 4 of Poppy Playtime shows what makes his design so endearing.
