The Wheel Of Time Season 3 Adds 5 New Book Characters, Including Key Aiel Figures
The Wheel of Time season 3 adds five new book characters to its ensemble, including important Aiel figures. Adapted for television by executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins, and based on the novels by Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time season 3 debuts globally on Prime Video on March 13 and will continue to examine the possibility that Rand (Josha Stradowski) could be corrupted by power. The upcoming episodes may be just as notable, though, for the number of new additions to the high-profile fantasy series.
Prime Video confirms that Isabella Bucceri, Nukâka Coster-Waldau, Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, Björn Landberg, and Synnøve Macody Lund are among the latest names to join Wheel of Time season 3. Several characters are connected to the Aiel, which is a race of people, in the novels on which the show is based. They live between the Westlands and the Sharans and are generally considered to be skilled warriors.
Who The New Characters Are & What They Mean For Wheel Of Time Season 3
Rand May Have New Supporters
The Wheel of Time season 3 will primarily cover the novel Shadow Rising, focusing on what happens when the threats against the Light increase. The White Tower will be divided, and old enemies will return. Rand, meanwhile, feels unconnected to his past and his corrupted power grows stronger. This leads to the question of whether The Dragon will turn to the dark.
It's in these volatile circumstances that the new faces join The Wheel of Time cast. Bucceri will play Faile Bashere, a Saldaean Hunter of the Horn, who attempts to locate a treasured relic and finds her way to The Two Rivers. Buccerri's previous credits include the movies Finally Me and Everything in Between.
The Latest Wheel of Time Cast Additions | ||
|---|---|---|
Actor | Wheel of Time Character | Previous Credits |
Isabella Bucceri | Faile Bashere | Finally Me, Everything in Between |
Nukâka Coster-Waldau | Bair | Thin Ice, Anori |
Salóme Gunnarsdóttir | Melanie | The Lazarus Project |
Björn Landberg | Rhuac | Galileo Mystery, Unter uns |
Synnøve Macody Lund | Melindhra | Saw X, Ragnarok |
Several new characters are connected to the Taardad Aiel, which is among Rand's strongest supporters. Those new Taardad additions include Anori and Thin Ice actor Coster-Waldau as Bair. The eldest Wise One, and the most respected member of the Taardad Aiel, Bair's authority and wisdom puts her in higher esteem than the Clan Chief. She can channel the One Power and other mystical abilities.
Following the Wheel of Time season 2 ending, Gunnarsdóttir (The Lazarus Project) joins as Melanie. Despite not being able to channel, Melanie is a Wise One of the Taardad Aiel and can access a more mystical power. Björn Landberg, known for the German shows Galileo Mystery and Unter uns, will play Rhuarc. The well-respected Clan Chief of the Taardad Aiel, Rhuarc passed the trial of Rhuidean to become Chief and is one of the few Aiel who knows what lies within the fog but is forbidden to speak of it.
Lund, recognized for her scene-stealing performance as the villainous Cecilia Pederson in Saw X, has the role of Melindhra. The character is a Malkieri survivor, taken in and raised by the Taardad Aiel. These lasting castings come after previous reveals of the pivotal Andor characters, such as Queen Morgase Trakand and Gawyn.
Our Take On Wheel Of Time's Growing Cast
The Hit Adaptation Is Evolving
It's a tough task for a fantasy epic to grow, considering the already sizable group of main and supporting Wheel of Time cast members. But it does promise that, after a long wait between episodes, and many unanswered questions, there will be a lot of story threads to pick up and new avenues to explore. Hopefully, there will be the right balance to make sure that the series focuses on the returning characters while providing enough time to introduce its new players.
