There’s No Way The White Lotus Season 3’s Worst Character Is The One Who Dies

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The White Lotus season 3, episode 1.While it's hard not to wish The White Lotus season 3's horrible new character will be the one to die in the end, it's highly unlikely. New episodes of the popular HBO series start with a strong premise, hinting at multiple deaths for its ending. While The White Lotus season 3's characters offer plenty of great possible killer/victim pairings,Mike White's trend within the show serves to rule out several outcomes. Notably, this season's wealthy people seem unstoppable in their objectives, heavily suggesting they are capable of anything.

As the first episode sets up an illegal history connected to Timothy Ratliff's (Jason Isaacs) wealth in The White Lotus, his family is surely in for a shocking trip, which could turn deadly or into a paradisiacal exile. The Ratliffs' children, too, are already a major point of strange intrigue for audiences — who are eager to discover how their relationships will develop. Patrick Schwarzenegger's shocking performance in The White Lotusdeserves some due recognition, as Saxon has become his most hateful character yet and, because of it, a likely survivor in season 3.

Patrick Schwarzenegger's Saxon Ratliff Is Already The White Lotus Season 3's Most Obnoxious Character

Saxon Could Seriously Mess Up His Younger Siblings In The White Lotus

After just one episode, Saxon Ratliff has won the title of the most despicable character in the new season. Though Greg's (Jon Gries) return to The White Lotus means he could easily win as the most hated male character in the series, his limited screen time hasn't yet showcased his worst attributes. Everything Saxon does and says falls into predatory and arrogant behavior, only caring about fulfilling his immediate desires and imposing them on others. Not to mention his obnoxious and childish attitude, as he gaslights, mocks, and throws tantrums to get what he wants.

Saxon's actions are especially primed to provoke terrible effects on his younger siblings, Lochlan (Sam Nivola) and Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook). Not only is he driving a wedge between them, but he also feeds on and encourages the Ratliffs' weird sexual tensions in The White Lotus. As he doesn't seem to acknowledge the hotel's staff at all, it's more likely he will continue targeting his siblings and other female guests — which, even if it gives him more chances at finding himself in the crossfire of several conflicts, shouldn't seriously threaten him.

Saxon's Parallels To Season 1's Shane Make His White Lotus Season 3 Death Less Likely

The White Lotus' Terrible Characters Tend To Get Away With Their Behavior

Saxon's parallels to Shane Patton (Jake Lacy) hint that, if anything, he could be behind the shooting, and not a victim of it. Notably, Shane, another wealthy man-child, accidentally kills the hotel manager at the end of season 1 of The White Lotus and is forgiven by his unhappy wife — perfectly starting the show's trend to have the worst characters end up victorious and unharmed. Opposingly, The White Lotus' victims tend to be part of a disempowered and abused group, like employees or women.

The White Lotus Season 3 Subtly Hinted At How The Mystery Victim Really Dies (Not Gunshots)

The White Lotus season 3 opens with gunfire at the resort in Thailand, but it’s possible this isn’t the true cause of the mystery victim’s death.

This is why, though it would be amazing, it's unlikely Greg will be brought to justice and why Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) is among the likeliest possible victims in The White Lotus season 3. However, though Saxon's role seems obvious in The White Lotus' universe, White might yet come to shock audiences with an unexpected twist where the powerful are responsible for their demise. Schwarzenegger's The White Lotus character could find himself in the middle of Rick's (Walton Goggins) man-hunt if he befriends Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), or he could even fall victim to his father's helpless attempt to spare his family public disgrace and ruin.
